  1. I think you will find Jahman went because of the situation with the new flight forum and the way it was being moderated.Bryan.
I'm sorry to both of you, just a little cheesed-off and thought it was heading for a big derailment. It's sad to see well known names leave is all.Doug

  2. Hello Gary and BryanNow I see why one of the most helpful members left the community! Way to go trolling this thread instead of showing respect! And back on topic I am very sorry to see Jahman go.From someone who has benefited from his knowledge greatly I hope you return.

I used 2 Hard drives I had already. With this setup cpu@4.3 I am flying with learjet class planes at 30fps.REX graphics, AS2012 weather, UTX, GEX, FSGENESIS mesh, MyTrafficX. Rock solid and have never been more pleased !

  4. jwhorfin:The wait is only if you change your water settings, and have them checked to be installed. If you are happy with the set loaded in FSX, simply open the OPTIONS manager in REX and deselect the water textures.Your loading time will drop to only a minute at most. Loading time varies in terms of which textures you have set to transfer to FSX via the OPTIONS area. Thanks ;)
Thanks for your reply. It took a few minutes to figure out the fly now button in the toolbar vs the I just want to fly button. :( Congratulations on such fine work, the last few hours have been the best I've spent to date! This really completes a great add on collection perfectly. REX, UTX, GEX....WOW :(

  5. i should also mention the pauses aren't just a lagging or stoppage to the sim but rather a text message (in the upper scrolling bar where like the weather gets printed) would pop up saying something to the effect of downloading the weather.. a few seconds later another one would say it was being processed or such..i noticed a slight drop in frames during this time but nothing major maybe 5fps.. then a 3rd message where it would say it was pausing the sim to update, and everything would crisply pause as if hitting the p key. so it felt a little more 'official' then just lagging out.
I found waiting on the runway for a minute or so before takeoff to let the weather load is less annoying then taking off right away and then having it pause during the climb. I haven't hit the 30 minute weather change threshold during flight yet.Overall first impression is when REX starts loading it says it will take 6 minutes to load (before FSX starts) and they mean it ! :( Once it all starts up it is quite amazing what this does for the clouds and airport textures. I haven't been near water yet. I would have paid $60 to get rid of that ugly low haze layer and with REX it's gone! I can't see any difference in FPS at all with default REX settings. I get the same FPS as I did before! Definitely worth every penny and that's after spending only 20 minutes or so flying.Speaking of flying...I'm off :( System: XPS420, Q6600, 3 gigs ram, evga 8800GTS SSC 640meg

  6. Just to add to the reflection and tint conversation I recently uploaded two files to the library from Carenado to fix the windows to clear in the Cessna 152 / 182 for FSX and between them they have 537 downloads within a week. To me that is quite some traffic, I also have the Citation II and my preference is to fly a well designed plane and view all the add on programs like UTX, GEX, and so on without obstruction. I don't want that poor person who spends time designing these textures to lose his job or anything like that. :-) Is it easy as a developer of these planes to provide a clear replacement texture if requested? If there's one thing I like it's buying more planes and lookin' out them.

  7. A gift in the mail tonite Bill:-beerchugA note from Carenado support:Attached is a texture which eliminates the window tint.Replace it in all the texture folders which have it.Feel free to upload it to public sites if you want.CarenadoI have not tried it myself and will get to installing it on the weekend. I checked out uploading it to the library but I need to hit the sack tonite. PM me your email and I'll send it to you when I get in tomorrow nite.....DougAnd many thanks to Carenado for responding so quickly and an awesome job on this plane!

  8. Howdy all, I have spent quite some time today at removing the reflections / tint from the windows in this plane. I've tried darking alpha with DXTBMP and editor as per numerous instructions across a quite a few forums. I've tried editing the Alabeo152a_Reflection.bmp in the texture.CALYPSO folder since this seems to be the default loading color and all color folders for this plane for that matter which clearly show this reflection in the editor. :-zhelpI removed the Alabeo152a_Reflection and Alabeo152_WindowsA / Alabeo152_WindowsA spec from all the texture directories and reflections remain. I'm clearly (get it? ) LOST.I have no joy and taken a year off the life of my hard drive today loading up to see if it worked. If someone could fix this for me I would greatly appreciate it because life's too short :)

  9. I downloaded what I think is a little beauty of a plane today from a link in the FS Insider newsletter. A freeware Cessna 152 from the FS Insider and JustFlight as a gift for reading the newsletter:http://www.justflight.com/microsoftc152.aspAfter renaming C152_reflection.dds to C152_reflectionbac.dds in the texture folder of the plane (you will see why later) I took a nice trip from my base Mountain Meadows Airport in Ct. It's a 3,400-foot runway that was closed years ago due to closed minded people. We call it Johnnycake. It was closed when FSX was released and I hope they will always include it in the next FS.More info:http://archives.californiaaviation.org/ganews/msg11054.htmlI flew east to KDBL, checked out the traffic for a while then flew down the Connecticut river, over the sound to Gabreski Airport in Westhampton, fueled up and returned. Boring run but plain fun in the 152 and UTX, GEX never looked better out of this plane :)

  10. I have the Flight One Cessna 172R and this fix works on this plane to get rid of " Dome light ". I don't know if other aircraft have the same settings.Look in the FSX default C172's aircraft.cfg file for theselines:[LIGHTS]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit,5=landing 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo 10=cabinlight.0 = 3, -2.76, -18.11, 2.97, fx_navredlight.1 = 3, -2.78, 18.11, 2.95, fx_navgrelight.2 = 2, -3.13, -18.31, 2.95, fx_strobelight.3 = 2, -3.11, 18.31, 2.95, fx_strobelight.4 = 1, -20.51, 0.00, 6.20, fx_beaconlight.5 = 6, -2.27, 0.00, 1.45, fx_vclightNote that the last entry is for "fx_vclight" andthat it assigned to type #6 taxi (which is itself quitebizzare!).In any case, all you need to do is comment out that linethusly to get rid of the "overhead flood light"//light.5 = 6, -2.27, 0.00, 1.45, fx_vclight // disabledtemporarilyKinda sucks you can't turn it on and off in game especially when you are already in the glide slope and can't remember where in the cab you set that beer down :(

  11. Thanks for your replies. Yes it is part banding problem usually during rpm changes. Mostly just wanting clear foward view. I'm wondering sometimes if it's exgagerated by using an lcd vs crt. Too bad you can't kill it as an option, I love this plane. Your planes or the ultralight would be more suited for clear observation mode :)
