  1. I purchased this Stearman and the complaint I have is that when sitting on the runway there is just too much movement, the tail wheel lifts slightly off the ground and there seems to be just too much vibration both outside the plane and from the cockpit. I complained to Vertigo and got a response to change some of the points of contact which did very little, they gave me a followup to changing some other things in the aircraft.cfg which I have not done so far. I am curious, has anyone else had this condition or is it just me?

  2. I can't speak for zzRandyzz who started this topic but on my screen many of the buttons do not have a icon or title in them just a "red X". When I hold the mouse pointer over the Start new topic it give a title to the button. I don't know what causes this but if I hold the pointer over Start new topic I get the window to start one. Any idea what is causing this to happen? Sorry zzRandyzz for using your post for my problem but maybe you have the same thing happening.

  3. If you are referring to the opening of the window (after opening it), it does not work. If not, I don't know what you are referring to. It seems to me there was another method of doing it but as I said I don't remember what it was.

  4. I was hoping this was not suppose to be this way as I keep getting a "Failed to read from file" error message which sends me back to desktop and if I hit the FSX icon again to start the sim it says FSX is already running and I have to reboot. I don't know what my problem is but thanks for the reply.

  5. Can anyone tell me why I have two scenery.cfg files that are different. One is in the (All Users\Documents and Settings\Application Data, etc) and has 25kb and the second one is in (My name\Documents and Settings\Application Data, etc) and only has 11kb? Shouldn't they both have the same size? (I didn't write in the complete file names in this inquiry as they appear in FSX but used etc.) Thanks.

  6. o.k. - just tried it and you have to open the window, click on the ladder, and it will go away...-hth
OK, I tried your suggestion but for some reason it did not work. I can open the window but am not able to remove the outside items. Not sure why it would work for you but not for me.

  7. Sorry it took me so long to respond I have been out of town. Thank you very much for the reply. I haven't been able to try it yet because every time I try to load the O-2A I get the "Failed to read from file" and I have no idea what causes this to happen. I have an entry on this forum asking the question but have not had any responses that work, but thanks again.

  8. I know this is published somewhere but for the life of me I cannot find it. How do you get rid of the tool box, ladder, etc. that is attached to the FSD Cessna O-2A plane. I couldn't find it in the documents that come with the plane and couldn't find anything on their web site. I was told how to do it quite a while back but cannot locate what it was, I just reinstalled the plane. I hope I am asking this in the right forum. Thank you.

  9. I suspect your are not looking at the scenery.cfg file which FSX actually writes addon data to.On my FSX setup (XP as the Operating System), the one which houses all the scenery data is located here:C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSXThe location of your scenery.cfg will vary depending upon what OP you are using but it will in a location similar to the above.BTW - if you are not seeing the cfg extension, be sure to uncheck the "Hide extension for known file types" option which is usually found in the Tools/Folder Options/View dialogue. Hope that helps.
You have just answered my question, I have been looking in C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX not C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX. That explains it all, thank you for waking me up.

  10. I recently reinstalled FSX due to some problems that I couldn't correct. I did a complete deletion of FSX through the Control Panel and in my C:\ drive. At any rate, now when I load FSX and go to the settings/scenery all the entries are there and when I fly to these locations everything seems to be working fine. However, when I look at the two scenery files (one in the FSX directory and one in Documents & Settings\etc) only a couple of the addon entries are there. All the default entries are present in both but not all the addons I have installed. What would cause this to happen and how do I correct it if I even should?

  11. I use Win 7 64 Ultimate and have 3 scenery.cfg files. The third one is located in \ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX.I had this error in an earlier installation and I found out that these files were not synchronised and FSX seemed to be reading the wrong one for whatever reason. I think I copied the updated file to the other locations to fix this. Anyway I later did another Windows install as well as FSX and have not had this problem since then.
I am using Windows XP not Win7 64 so I am not sure the same applies. I wish I knew if I needed both scenery files I am hearing yes and then no. I am sure someone knows what should be and what should not be. Hoping for an answer.

  12. I realize a number of entries in this forum have asked this question but I have not been able to correct the problem. I have never had this happen before all all of a sudden I a plagued with it. I always end up where FSX restarts. It happens sometimes when I am loading a flight and sometimes when I am going to another plane or airport. Is there any specific file in FSX that could cause this to happen. I had it before I reinstalled FSX and and have it again after I installed it. There has to be some answer to this problem and would appreciate any input that might help me get rid of this problem.

  13. "Highmemfix=1 under [Graphics] should take care of it."I tried adding this to the FSX.cfg but it did not correct the problem, I tried it with the MAAM B-25 Briefing Time aircraft. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I gave up, deleted and reinstalled FSX and the problem went away I have no idea what caused it and apparently nobody else did either but do apprecite the suggestions offered.

  14. 532 GB free? Yes, that is plentyI would start with deleting the FSX.cfg and letting it rebuild. You can't get much cleaner than a fresh one. You really don't need a program to take care of that for you and you really don't need to make too many edits to the cfg when tuning FSX. Usually less is better.
OK, I started by deleting the FSX.cfg and let it rebuild unfortunately it did not change the frame rate. I looked at that utility suggested in the forum and all it does it allow you to change options in the FSX.cfg and I guess that would be fine it you knew what you were looking for. I don't know where to go at this point with this and cannot run FSX with this low a frame rate.

  15. This happens from time to time, (though I've never seen it go down that low) it is usually caused by a problem with the fsx.cfg file. Rather then try to debug it, it's usually easier to rename it. (You can delete it, but it's a good idea to rename it for backup, so you still have it, atleast until you are satisfied things are working.) Then start FSX again, that will rebuild a new default config file. Reset your desired GUI settings, exit FSX then edit the new fsx.cfg and to add your previous tweak settings if any. You can use the backup file as a guide.
I guess before I try anything else I will give your suggestion a try, hopefully it will get me back to where I was. Curious, I have 532.70GB free space on this drive, looking at my specs would this be sufficient to handle the needed space for windows to load FSX as it seems to me there is a minimum you need?
