  1. Well it appears that the problem after all was not enough cpu core voltage! Funny thing is I had passed a 2 hour stress test using O.C.C.T. But apparently that still was'nt enough voltage for FSX. So I bumped up the core voltage a couple of extra notches. No more BSOD's! So be weary that even though you may pass stress tests, FSX may require even more voltage than you passed the stress test with!

  2. Hi, Well I tried everything you suggested. I ran the windows memory diagnostic tool without any errors. I loosend up the timing on my ram. I went from 7-8-7-20 to 9-9-9-24 . I updated my bios. And I ran RegServ which is a registry cleaner. I'm still getting BSOD's! Only now Windows Debugger is saying that- win32k.sys -is the problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help,Chris

  3. Thanks for your response Jim.I was running 12 gigs of ram (corsair). The same ram that is giving me BSOD's! I swapped that set out, and put in a set of 6 gigs (G-Skill) Ram. I Loaded up a flight and completed a 2 hr.40 min flight without a problem. I thought to myself good, my other set of ram was bad. I then loaded up a flight this morning, and what do you know. BSOD with the new set of ram! I'm at a loss. BSOD's with 2 seperate sets of ram. The thing is I have no problems running any other games or applications! Just FSX! I also passed OCCT stress test for 2 hours without a problem. Also I'm not sure how to go about running the windows memory diagnostic tool? Is it a program in Windows itself, or do I need to download it from somewhere? Thanks for your help,Chris

  4. I've been getting constant BSOD's, and after many days of trying to fix the problem, I came accross the Windows debugging tool, so I could view the minidump file. Basically what it tells me is that the problem is caused by the : ntoskrnl.exe : My guess is that this is an operating system kernel file. So my question is.....is there an easy way to fix this? Is there a way I can replace this file? I dread doing a reinstall of my operating system. Even then I'm not sure that a reinstall would fix the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks,Chris

  5. How are the CPU temps? I have my I7 950 clocked to 4ghz as well, and just recently I have been getting BSOD's. I think it mostly has to do with the summer like temps we have been getting here on the east coast, and my cpu is running hotter than I would like! Also I am surprised that you are able to get to 4ghz with that low voltage? I have to run at 1.25 to get stable. Also you should disable hyper threading as FSX and, many other applications dont benefit from it anyways.I hope you find a solution.Chris,

  6. I have FSDT's KORD, and the only complaint I have of it, is that most of the buildings, and terminals disappear during replay. Sometimes I like to scope out my landings, and check out the surrounding scenery. Stuff like that.I also am not a big fan of Virtuali, but what can you do. If you want FSDT's airports, I guess you just have to deal with it. Although I find myself shying away from FSDT's airports, and looking elsewhere for my scenery addons!Fly Tampa comes to mind, and they are hassle free. I would venture to say that the vast majority of us Flight Simmers are honest and paying customers. I understand that some sales may be lost to piracy. I am also curious as to how many sales are lost to consumers like me who refuse to purchase a certain addon because of the extra hassle, or there anti piracy measures?Best regards,Chris

  7. HOLY SMOKES!!!!Welcome back Phil!!!! I think we're gonna have to seriously plot to kidnap you and hold you hostage in my basement until you tell us everything you know about FS 11!!!! We have ways of making you talk!
I got it!! I took it as a light hearted joke when I first saw it. And of course someone wants to turn it into a debate. Welcome back Phil!!

  8. I have'nt upgraded to ASE yet as, I am curious as to what are the improvements of ASE over ASA are? A new interface? From what I'v been reading, Most of the problems that exist with ASE existed with ASA as well! Except now we have a new kicker. Use standard mode, get stutters, and bad frames. Great! Use smooth cloud mode, and get fudged up winds aloft. Great! Use DWC well you know the drill. So which mode should I use? What are the improvements, really? I could live with standard mode except for the stutters, and frames, so I atleast hope that gets fixed. Until then ASA will do. Chris,

  9. I like to buy all my components from Newegg! My linkThe system in my sig cost me around $1,300 and was built for the sole purpose of overclocking my cpu. Knowing which components to get might be a bit confusing at first. Basically you wanna make sure the cpu and motherboard are compatible. For example, for a 1366 socket cpu you wanna make sure you have a 1366 socket Motherbaord. You would want ddr3 ram (240 pin). Nvidia's 500 series are the best vid cards at the moment. The 400 series would be the next best. Of course you would need a power supply to power all your new components(I would recommend atleast a 750 watt power supply for one vid card. 850 if you plan to overclock, and put a butch of fans and stuff in your case) And ofcourse you need all your drives etc. Its best to have a drive solely dedicated to FSX! Oh and dont forget the after market cpu cooler! I use the CoolerMaster V8, and it does a good job of keeping my temps down, even @4.00ghzAfter you get your new rig built, here is an excelent guide on getting the most out of your new system:My linkAlso Here's a good guide on overclocking the Intel Core I7's, and there is also a link on overclocking the Sandybridge in case you decide to wait for the new motherboards:My linkBest of luck in getting your new system.Chris,

  10. Did you add the bufferpool tweak to your FSX cfg file?If so you should delete the bufferpool section or decrease the poolsize value until your textures return. The buffer pool section should look something like this:[bufferPools] UsePools=0 RejectThreshold=102400 PoolSize=2097152
