  1. A couple of days ago I received a suspension from this forum for what I said or did. Actually I agree with the moderators that it was not the most tasteful thing to do. I want to make it clear that I meant no malice by it, well, maybe a just little bit. But it was not directed at the developer. It was a statement to the general direction of the thread. Not that it makes any difference, but I wanted to get that out of the way just the same.I am a big boy and if a whipping is what I get then it’s a whipping that I will take, “thank you sir, may I have another!”However, I did have a problem with it. The avsim staff is free to do whatever you want. It’s your playground and I’m just an unwanted visitor. What does bother me is the fact that I paid a lot of money for a lot of products:PDMG (x2)RADAR CONTACTFS2CREW (x3)HIFISIM (x2)CARENADO (x4) it’s not official, but I’ll add it to the list just to make my point. You mean to say that just because I misbehaved in the general non-product related forums I am banned from seeing the forums of the products that I paid for? Say it ain’t so.Developers:I think it’s time that you guys step up and take control of your own forums. It’s not that expensive for crying out loud. If I misbehave in your products forums then please punish me but what I do or say elsewhere is really none of your business is it? Does buying your product mean that I’ll have to watch what I say in the avsim forums? That is all. Carry on.

  2. One thing I've learned after years of having been involved in a few business is that customer loyalty goes out the window the minute you raise your prices. Customer loyalty is based on money not "loyalty".ORBX could have handled this a little better though. Now where did my wife hide that credit card...

Sorry for the airplane.2011-12-22_23-27-40-436.jpgAs far as overcast, I would say that for me I would experience the old "flying inside the doughnut effect" about 30% of the time. When it does work out it is incredible. I'm glad I bought it.

  4. Step 1 - Get your college degree. You don't need a college degree to make a living as a pilot but if your aim is to fly for the airlines then a college degree is a must.Step 2 - Get your private pilots license. This will get you started and everything you'll need to know to becoming an airline pilot you can get from the school and the people around you.Step 2a - Make every every flight a training flight. You will tested, checked, quizzed and graded for the rest of you flying career.Step 3 ( the most important step) - Persevere.I was standing outside a hotel lobby waiting for my shuttle to take me to the airport when an old gentleman in a wheelchair rolled next to me. He was wearing a beat up red TWA hat so I thought I would engage him in a conversation. In our talk I found out that he was a retired TWA pilot. I told him how hard it was to get a job in the airlines these days and that I might have to face getting laid off soon. He looked at me in the eyes and said "Young man, it was never easy to be an airline pilot." This conversation took place in 1993.

  5. While my rudder hardover comment was supposed to be a poor joke I do find it fascinating that all the 'if it ain't Boeing I ain't going' boys either don't know about it or keep quiet when mentioned. If those hardovers happened on the A3xx or MD11 there would be an outcry.... Sounding something like, if it ain't Boeing I ain't going.....,
No conspiracies mate, it's well known to those who fly and operate them. Here's the no spin zone story: http://www.b737.org.uk/rudder.htm

  6. Wow!They tell you up front that it's a lite system and they even took the time to put the word "LITE" in the name. They'll give it to you for FREE as long as you register on their website. Yet people here are still finding ways to complain about it.Un-freaking believable.

  7. Here's a prime example of erroneous judgement and expectations meeting reality. The Quest Kodiak in actual flight exhibits this precise behavior you're citing as a "bug..."
< OFF TOPIC RANT ON >I hate to pile on here but this seems to happen a lot in this forum. Many "simmer facts" are so off reality that I often scratch my head with amazement (but of course I'm entertained by it). The sad part is that a lot of the complaints that are directed towards developers are based on these false expectations. This will of course go the other way. "Hardcore" simmers here have been defending the flight dynamics of a certain developer when it was blindingly obvious to RW pilots that it was off. To the developers credit it was fixed.< OFF TOPIC RANT OFF>

  8. I have a heck of time flying RW in FSX and i flew RW real world from the late 70's till mid 90's - been doing FW since then. Never did buy the dodo sim 206 but I will probably get the huey when they release it. I spent some time on the 204 (smaller version of the 205 huey) and really liked that machine. I have the Cerra 212 & 412 and I must say this 222 looks good enough to buy for me so I probably will.
Yep, I hear ya. The break out moment for me was when I bought the Saitek AV8R and chopped off the springs. That and the mind numbing hours upon hours spent in front of the computer screen.

  9. ...Bottom line is if you want to go camping in your sim get ORBX stuff, watch the leaves fall, listen to some dogs barking, and watch some people walk around in circles while you sit on the steps of a log cabin, or fly some g/a around the area.
Bottom line... If you enjoy airline flying at FL350 for hours on end then ORBX is not for you. wink.png For those few of us who do enjoy "camping in your sim..., watch the leaves fall, listen to some dogs barking, and watch some people walk around in circles while you sit on the steps of a log cabin, or fly some g/a around the area" then ORBX gets my $$$. ps. This isn't a THEM vs US thing, I have all the other add-on's too. Just pick and choose what works for you. There's no need for anyone to slam some developer because their work doesn't tickle your pickle. Just move on and let the others have some fun, what ever their definition of fun happens to be.

  10. I too enjoy ORBX scenery. It's been close to 20 years since I flew a small GA aircraft and their small airports take me back to where it all started for me. As strange as it may sound, I'm actually fascinated with FSX not because of the airplanes but because of the scenery. ORBX and their silly people and trees fills my special needs. happy.png

  11. Guys, Just because you can't do it doesn't mean that I can't. Here's the Dodo set at level 5 with crash detection on. No it was not paused. Yes, I can take my hands off the collective just long enough to press "V". On the second image my nose started turning right as I reached for the key but stayed in the same spot.Let's just say that I'm a fixed wing pilot with a rotor wing fetish. 12. VMC, did you buy it ? how's the night lighting in the VC ? Any other info you wish to share ? Thx Vic
Hi, Yep, I bought it. I'm glad I did. I don't notice any fps hit at all but your results may vary. I have zero hours on real world helicopters so I can't comment on how realistic the flight dynamics is but those guys at hovercontrol seems to think its pretty darn good. Here's a night VC shot. The overhead can be hard to see at certain places but I'm ok with it. nightvc.jpg

  13. Ahh Jeeese I just bought the new Cerasim Bell 222 lol.... muuuuust ressiiiist! DJ, how does it compare to DFW performance and looks-wise? I've got their DFW, LAS, ORD, and JFK sceneries, but DFW hurts my fps the most.
They go quite well together. GET IT! Plus lots of helipads on top of the hotels that line Century Blvd. 2011-9-16_22-33-18-452-1.jpg
