  1. Is there anything available that allows two people to be in the same cockpit over the internet. Say a friend in his house as first officer and me in mine in captain. I ask him to extend the flaps, he does it on his computer and it happens on my plane as well and vice versa, and if there is what is it and can it be used with the 737 NGX.
Nice of you to post this but they where asking about the PMDG NGX
Nope. He asked if there was a program and if it could be used in FSX. The post after the OP clearly stated it was slated for a future version. I answered the other part of his question by showing that indeed there is software out there available with this feature.

  2. I was having an interesting time just reading this, but Im gonna toss in my two cents. As a (unfortunalty non-flying) employee of FDX, last month I was able to sit in on the whole preflight of tail 375 (MD10). When I talked to the crew about my simulator experience and my RW flying experience, these two very nice pilot's went out of there way to show me things. I had a problem with the concept of "dial a flap", having primarily flown Boeing systems in simulators. Upon explaining this to the crew, both pilot's talked about the gates (on the flaps controls) and made me see how much the simulator and RL can be different. Further in the preflight, they showed me ACARS ops, they showed me this tablet PC looking thing that contained EWR's relevant departure information and they had the take off briefing for EWR 22L where the captain mentioned "...this departure has a lot of things going on pretty fast, so I need you to make sure you're watching me" to the FO. There is obviously more to it, but I did want to show that there are, (1) friendly pilot's and (2) you CAN get in on the pre flight. When we landed, I told the FO about PMDG and he said he would check it out as he wanted his children to see what it's like.I miss the days when we could ride in the cockpit...
Maybe it'll come back for you soon. We (Air Traffic Controllers) are on the cusp of it coming back. Sadly, it's been delayed until at least August...it's been pushed back a couple of times already...but patience is a virtue that I was taught at a young age!! Maybe once we get the opportunity to ride up front, it will open the door for others back up. (probably not, but we can always hope hehe)

  3. Rude, unfriendly comments? I'm not making rude comments.. All i'm "spewing" is my opinion, which isn't rude at all. Simply a statement, not meant to be picked up as rude. Alex Vanover
Whether you meant it to be rude or not, it was pretty rude...

  4. We are not modelling structural damage to the airframe - I don't even think the FSX engine has the ability to handle such things in any realistic way. We do have constraints here people - the core sim engine's limitations can't be completely bypassed...About the closest you'll get to this is manual reversion mode, which makes the controls very slow responding and sluggish, but seriously, we're not making an accident simulator here.
That was going to be my question...It'd be nice, but I didn't think FSX had that capability.

  5. I've lived in Phoenix for 19 almost 20 years and I don't remember dust storms that big (50 miles wide and 3000 feet high I heard). But dust storms during the monsoon season can occur occasionally.
I thought I heard at one point it was as high as 9000ft. That was before it reached Phoenix, though rolleyes.gif

  6. Why would you fly into ATL? BHM wouPld be WAY faster than ATL. Even though all flights are operating out of term. C, there are no delays caused by the construction. I flew out of BHM last week, and it was fine. They knocked down a wall inside the terminal in order to add more TSA screening lines. The whole operation is running very smooth. They also added more restaurant options inside of C to meet the demand. Like I said, there are no delays at all caused by construction. You could check in, get through security, and board your flight in less time than it would take just to get through security at ATL.
I must have missed the part with no delays. Sorry about that :)

  7. Today, I watched a Southwest Airlines B737 depart RSW from intersection F2 (8500 ft of runway) get airborne before both Air Tran and American Airlines B737 did using full length (12,000ft of runway). And SWA was airborne almost 1000 feet before TRS and AAL rotation point :)

  8. Hi folks!I just saw this: http://flightaware.c...e/flight/BOE523Looks like it will be arriving in BHM in a few hours. Does anyone know what this is all about? Why would they want to come here? I'd like to see if I can catch its arrival and departure, but I don't really know how to find its agenda.BTW: For those interested in the BHM expansion project:The project is now well underway. See here for more info: http://en.wikipedia....d_ModernizationTerminal A has been demolished, Terminal B has been closed, and the old cargo terminal has also been demolished. Terminal C is currently handling all flights. Do to the lack of sufficient gates, many planes are being parked on the apron where passengers are boarded by stairs. Foundation work for the new terminal A is slated to start this month..
Wow, thanks for the info on BHM. I was considering flying into BHM to head to Auburn for the opening football game...looks like I'll just head to Atlanta. That does seem kind of odd that they are heading there with it.

  9. Simply ask a flight attendant...:blush:The approach into ATL was CRAZY, severe storms at 10pm.......~Kinda scary while descending.-Very low visibility(I could barely see the winglet)~Landing was great though.-Very heavy braking and full reverse.Best Regards,
They were running an EDCT program for ATL down in Florida. Usually, they only have Call For Release Programs for ATL in South Florida. However, when the EDCT's come into effect for us down here, we know it's a bad day in Atlanta. Glad to know you made it safely home.No need for me to ask anymore as we are pretty close to getting FAM flights back. So pretty soon, I will be riding in the jump seat.
