  1. Tom:

As it has been for many years "Avsim" is a multiple times a day every day "must stop" on my  internet rounds so it was with profound sorrow that I read your post.  To use your words - "speaking directly" -  it brought me to tears!

After that reaction - it p*ssed me off!"

I long ago learned that life is unfair but this is definitely over the top on the unfairness scale for a guy who has given so much of himself.   So with that thought in mind - and while I know that talk is cheap and the odds are long - I commend to you the words of one of the heroes of the Navy we both proudly served in-  "Don't Give Up the Ship!"

Please know that my prayers are with you and your family along with boundless thanks for the many hours of relaxation and enjoyment that your selfless dedication to Avsim has  provided to me and thousands of others around the world that transcends nationality and geography

  2. I've downloaded and installed Alaska - scenery is beautiful and the external airplane views are great - but I can't get an in the cockpit panel view in any of my planes - like the Maule for example - they all work fine if I shift back to Hawaii - obviously I've missed some key aspect of the new addon in terms of flying from inside the cockpit - I know the Cub that comes with Alaska doesn't have a cockpit view - but what about the othe airplanes?

Anybody else having this issue? Is there a keyboard command I'm missing?

    Thanks

    Bill

  3. Good looking stuff - "but" - every couple of years I upgrade to the latest X-plane version but find myself going back to MS because X-plane still doesn't have the total functionality (easily accessible cockpit and instrument views, comprehensive ATC and such) that MS does - although each incremental release gets a little bit better - maybe this x-plane version will be the "big one" that brings it all together. Also - for a number of years the x-plane developers pooh paahed aircraft and interior graphics such as those in MS as eye candy and focused instead on the supposedly very accutate flight dynamics in X-plane. Of course this completely missed the point that visual cues are a key element in creating the necessary suspension of disbelief for an effective simulation not to mention leaving out the viewing enjoyment factor that many simmers like just as much as accurate performance models These shots and some others floating around the net indicate that the X-Plane folks may have gotten the both the aircraft and exterior scenery graphics message - I hope so!
