    Greg,

HUGE thanks for taking the time to explain the more technical details of the product. A def purchase for me after reading your exposition.

(Side note: we have seen another developer come to these forums and refuse to explain their product, losing a sale from me.)

Appreciate your work, love my L35!!

    No problem!

Obviously there is quite a bit more to it than that but we don't want to give too much away!

    Enjoy

Hi. Definitely interested but have a couple questions:

    1. Does this provide new autogen vegetation models as well, or just textures?

    2. You state "Completely reworked and optimised autogen library to boost performance"  Can you elaborate on this please?

    Thanks.

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

    1. Only textures but the textures make the models now properly reflect their real-world counterparts.

    2. Well now that would be telling! What I can say is that there's a lot of unnecessary texture calls in the default autogen library. Texture calls that lead nowhere. Those we've eradicated. This reduces both the poly count and the drawcalls.

replaces all autogen?  Not just the locales that are highlighted on your site?

That's right. All vegetation autogen is updated. The screenshots are just examples of what it looks like in different regions or when combined with other developers products.

ok i thought so just making sure.  So question for you:  If one were to download this and decide they want to get rid of it and go back with default scenery?  Would a program like this overwrite and make it to where you essentially hafta re install fsx?

The TerraFlora installer only renames a single file. Nothing is deleted or overwritten - only new files are added. The uninstaller reinstates the original file version.

The whole process is non-destructive but it's always good advice to keep an up to date backup of your sim folder just in case!

how is this different than FTX Global Trees HD

The fundamental difference is that TerraFlora trees are higher resolution and the colouring is more true to life while maintaining an overall look that still sits properly with the orbx landclass textures. Obviously, what is 'correct' or 'true to life' is subjective so your best bet is to check out the screenshots and see what you think. Additionally we've optimised the autogen library to remove the multitude of inefficiencies that are present (and there's a LOT!).

I hope this answers your questions. There's plenty more information over at our website: www.turbulentdesigns.co.uk

  6. Congratulations Greg.  I wish you good fortune on your new venture and I'll sure be buying some airports from you.  They look first class.

Will you be doing any large international airports?

    Thanks Robert,

We're looking at lots of different options but until we firm things up we won't make any announcements!

    Greg

  7. Thanks for the kind words Rob

Good for them... it's about time someone called ORBX's BS on "my way or the highway". I wish other developers would start making airports that seamlessly blend with FTXG or any of their areas.

I'm wondering if ORBX libraries are used. I don't care either way, but I know JV would have a conniption if they were. The customer already paid for licensing it. I'm all for independent developers putting out sceneries that require ORBX libraries/sceneries. I see this as more sales for ORBX and more sales for independents. If I were to have wait for ORBX to do every airport I hope for, I would give up on this hobby.

I wonder what will happen to "support" of the 720 products that were developed for or branded ORBX? And I wonder if a similar conflict will rear its head with the Pilots/FSGlobal partnership they're doing for the vector add-on.

In short, no. Those libraries are proprietary to them and obviously it would not be legal for SIM720 (nor any other developer) to use them in our products.

SIM720 have been busily putting together our own extensive catalogue of reusable objects, and we'll continue to do so as we go forward with new projects.

Head over to the SIM720 website for more info on what we've got planned!

    Cheers,

  8. Currently my only issue is that I've 'lost' all the landmark buildings in London even when I revert back to default London is bare! I've some work to do to at lease get back the default scenery, so some rebuilding of the scenery.cfg is next on my list. But got to go out arghhhh. All was well before I installed the new ORBX England so IT has done something.

    Hi mate,

Post this over at the official FTX forums and we'll get it sorted out for you!
