  1. So I recently bought Anacortes from orbx and in the read me it says I need PNW? Do I really need that for the install to work?

Although your experience will be better with it, and although you will miss some elements (traffic?) if you don´t, it is not technically necessary to have PNW and you will certainly be able to install Anacortes. But it will not be integrated with the rest of the scenario.

By the way, I also got Skagit and was positively surprised with that one.

  2. I am beginning to become addicted to overclocking. But a miriad questions will appear. Once I reach what my ASUS tells me is a stable OC (remember I am a beginner, my OC is still press a key automatic OC...) I start getting BSOD inside FSX. But if I check my temps they seem to be around 60 C. I do not think thats too hot. Reducing OC seems to get rid of BSODs. Have I reached my limit? My OC is not too extreme (4,5 mhz for a SB-e i7 3930k) and I have what I think is a powerful air cooler. Would liquid cooling help me sustain 4.5 mhz and beyond? Did I get a lemon chip that can sustain no more OC? Any help or suggestion to help me diagnose greatly appreciated.

  3. Nope, no external sound card, just the internal audio coming with the mobo. And latest drivers since its a new mobo just installed. Internal audio its a:Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retaskingAudio Feature :- Absolute Pitch 192kHz/ 24-bit True BD Lossless Sound- Blu-ray audio layer Content Protection - DTS Ultra PC II- DTS Connect- Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panelAnd no strange problems reported by dxdiag.Interestingly, the sounds coming from AccuFeel do not interfere with FPS, and they seem to be unaffected by silencing FSX internally via the "q" key.

  4. Supressing sound with "q" causes increase in fps inside FSX. I was surprised to see a 7 to 10 fps increase in the sim just hitting the q key. My system is a fast SB-E i7 3930K OC at 4.3, and fully ORBX'd and REXD and Accufeel, addon aircraft and what have you. MOBO is n ASUS P9X79. W7 Ultimate.Anyone else experienced this? Anything I can change to reduce the impact of sound on frames? Interestingly enough I can still hear the AccuFeel sounds without a fpsimpact, so I can still get some sound, but would be greatnto get the engines (and the frames) back. Can this be related to DirectX? Is there any proven output format for the sound that would eliminatethe fps impact?

  5. Interestingly enough, I hit the q key yesterday to supress sounds in FSX and realized there was still sound coming from the plane. It was certainly the accusim addon doing its stuff. The interesting part though is that using q to supress sounds immediately provided a 7-10 fps increase! After several testsI thought to myself, "this is sound foming from accusim, so it could lerfectly be called accusound". As it turns out the term really exists!

  6. For some strange reason (SSD? w7? SB-e?), my FSX load times are measured in seconds. And yes, the beast is fully loaded with ORBX, REX OD, UT2, EZDOK, VRS Superbug (and some more), and some massive photoreal sceneries (airHispania full, i.e. all Spain). Load times are so ridiculous on any region that they are no longer an issue. In my previous machine it would have taken from 14 to 20 minutes to load the full Spain scenery of over 120+ Gb of scenery. With my current rig it does not take more than one minute. I am afraid to change something and lose such fast load times!I did try AM=62 as suggested by Word Not Allowed and BP=0,But with BP=0 bit did no see a marked improvement in FPS, and in fact minor blurries appeared when flying insanely low and fast. Not sure why, maybe the SSD is too fast for the CPU or the GPU to benefit from BO=0. Will review the previous suggestions in your posts and experiment.OT, but congrats on the honeymoon, although I hear its not compatible with your flightsim hardware...Ps2. correction, BO=0 should say BP=0.

  7. SaabI have followed your posts with great attention and have read them time and time again to properly understand the issues discussed. I appreciate the time and effort you put to experiment and to explain all your findings. Particularly intriguing all the explanation about the AffinityMask settings, t+t loaders and the unloading of fibres to increase Ffps.I just upgraded to a SB-E hexacore, and I am at odds trying to determine which would be my best Affinity Mask setting to maximize offloading of fibres. I do understnad we cannot control where they go, we can just make room for them. I have HT off, W7 64b, 8gb RAM, a large and fast SSD drive and pretty much an untouched FSX.cfg, save for the proverbial Highmemfix and a vsync-on setting (unfortunately do not like the tearing), nVidia Zotac GTX 580 with 3gb RAM and nvidia Inspector AA of 8SQ. My load times are amazing (a bunch of seconds, no matter how heavy the scenery load) but with heavy ORB+REX+VRS Superbug my fps go to the low twenties.Have you performed any analysis on the SB-E processor with six cores? I am curious what where the results. Any suggestion for an affinitymask setting? Thanks and best,ChiscoJust curious what

  8. I am extra-cautious buying FSX addons, but the price and the universality of this addon -is applied to all planes in FSX- made it a no brainer. Excellent decission, and although I am pretty sure some of the effects might be unrealistic with my VRS Superbug, it really adds to the immersion!
