Yeah all there stores were down for around 8 hours last night starting around 10pm CST. Annoying when you are trying to throw money at people and they won't let you.

Why not just buy the Sim Savvy scenery? You will get the entire Continental US at 50cm resolution.

Done my research. Its not for me. Too many things that would annoy me, not to mention that the seasons do change and I wouldn't want to be flying around Wisconsin in winter while its snowing only to see green grass and trees from above.

  2. PC Aviator has both the North and Central packages for 50% off, plus the 10% for the labor day special. I recently purchased Flight Beam's KPHX so I'll be flying in the area a bit more. I don't fly VFR, mainly over FL200. Is there any reason I SHOULDN'T purchase it for this price? Also thinking of getting the southern part but that is full price and I'm afraid of it becoming a deal of the day soon after I purchase it...

And yes I have the freeware Grand Canyon KGCN scenery as well.

  3. Hi SoloTwo,

I'm sorry I can't help you any further with some hints how to solve this issue in AS2012.

The only advise I can give you is to keep a close eye on this OpusFSX FS Interface for FSX and P3D. You will find more than sufficient info (especially on this "few metar stations available"-item) here on the avsim forums or on their own forum (SimForums).

FYI: I use RexE for their sublime HD Cloud Textures and disable completely the weather engine. I have this function substituted by the Live Weather Engine of OpusFSX. Working just perfect.

You should really have a look at this.

Nice advertisement. The simulated winds aloft is a laughable feature.

It looks like the outside view in the OP is further out from the default. Not sure if this is the problem but extending the distance from the aircraft would make any cloud formation look strange. I have AS2012 and have yet to see this issue. Are you using the default settings? If you moved the resolution in closer to the aircraft I don't think you would see these strange squares. I'll have to give it a try to see if I can somehow duplicate this issue.

    Best regards,

    Jim

I just zoomed out to give you a better view I can assure you it doesn't change from outside to the inside. Like I said the clouds are PERFECT when I'm flying over areas where I know there are plenty of weather stations. I only have this problem when I'm flying to PANC from the Seattle area where I know there aren't stations. That screenshot was taken over the Gulf of Alaska.

I'm using DWC mode and have Depict Hurricanes, Create Additional Stations, Enhance Route Coverage, and Local Station Writes with DWC all selected. The next time I fly to Alaska I'll have to screw around with the settings and see if I can't find the issue.

What kind of cloud settings are you guys using? I have cloud layers set to 5, I have no idea if I should increase or lower that just looks alone not about this issue. I have CAVOK generation to 50%, no data cloud gen to 50% (hrm, maybe the problem?). Cirrus Cloud Generation set to 50, and for some reason Stratus Cloud Occurrence set to 0%.

  4. It only happens when I'm flying in an area without many stations like I stated, I have the cloud density set to 12 and a large draw distance. Its perfect when I'm flying in areas with plenty of stations.

As for REX-E, well I have REXOD and it appears I'll be waiting months and months before I can even upgrade. And with REX I have to deal with annoying wind shifts, flashing sky, constantly changing weather when I'm on approach and huge load times. NONE of these things I have to deal with in AS2012...

  5. Just 2 problems I've been having with AS2012 lately. Whenever I'm flying over a large distance with DWC on and there aren't many weather stations in the area (mostly Alaska, flying from PANC to PASI right now over the Gulf of Alaska) I get extremely annoying weird cloud patterns. Big square areas usually with square holes and it just repeats itself over and over. Also right now when I'm flying over an overcast area clouds only show up in a about 20mi circle around me and appear and disappear around me as I'm flying.

Not sure if there is a setting somewhere that I'm missing or what.

  6. Meanwhile owners of Rex OD just wait....

I have both and really enjoy AS2012 so much more. Live I've said before the historic weather is perfect and works flawlessly and with the direct weather control feature you never notice sudden wind changes and you don't have to worry about constantly changing weather when you are near your destination. I use some of REX's textures but I use those free high res cloud textures which IMO blow any payware clouds out of the water. Once FSX is running I just open up AS2012 and within a minute I have my weather.

Soon this thread will be filled with excuse after excuse and saying its just you that has to deal with the long waits associated with REX.

  7. You mean like these two....? FlyTampa Seattle converted, FZ02 KPDX converted..

Thanks to Jose Otero (DDJose) for a number of PDX objects AND the PDX inspiration, and to Anthony Cacciatore for his help, and its original conversion. Seattle KSEA is the work of Lawrence Robbins and Anthony Cacciatore, and available at http://www.myflights...og/Welcome.html

PDX is not a finished product by any means, but is adequate for my purposes: unfortunately my skills are somewhat limited a). by lack of smarts, and B). by a large dose of laziness!

I said FSX quality. I know about the conversions and I'm not spending that much money to try and jerry rig 2 sceneries.

  8. Well like I stated in my original post I didn't want to futz around with MCE but maybe I should, just feel weird talking to my computer...

How do you go about getting cfg's for planes to use in MCE? What if one doesn't exist? Does it tell you what to say or would I have to deal with a huge learning curve? How good is the speech recognition? And how exactly does it interact with RC4?

  9. Hello

What issues are you having with PFE ?

It seems every problem I always had, had something to do with frequencies. I lost track of how many times I'm handed off center and every time the frequency will be the same as the last. Many times the frequency I'm given is the frequency for something else so neither of them will work. Half the time the unicom frequency will be the same as a WX frequency. I've also been forgot about a few times after takeoff or arrival.

After more reading I tried it again the other day after spending 20 or so minutes setting it up with SIDS and STARS and after writing down the departure frequency from clearance. Once I took off tower gave me a totally different frequency for departure, which of course didn't work and the one I was supposed to be using didn't work. I even looked at the generated sheet with all the frequencies. So I turned on RC4 and got to my destination without a problem.

  10. Still waiting on Essentials for Overdrive......

Anywhoo I use some of REXOD's textures but after buying AS2012 not sure I can go back. The historical weather is honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me in flight simming since I usually fly later ant night and having the ability to actually use the real weather for when i want to fly? Simply fantastic. Also the direct weather control that AS2012 uses is great no more annoying abrupt wind shifts and having constant barometer and wind speeds near your destination is great.

Once REX can replicate those features I will make the switch perhaps.

  11. Basically I'm just trying to figure out of this program is worth purchasing or not. I've watched videos and I like what I see with the interactions but I'm mostly worried about setting it up for new aircraft that don't have cfg files like the Carenado C90 and a couple other planes that I plan on flying that FS2Crew doesn't support.

Yes I know about Multi crew but honestly the learning curve and talking into my computer doesn't really interest me.

And lastly, any other suggestions out there to simulate a co-pilot that actually does something?
