Sure, open other threads and look at the Facebook groups and P3D forums. Look how much being reported, maybe I am wrong and I hope so. Perhaps it worked good for you and I am happy to hear that that you didn't go through the same annoying path as I did. But I am not an anti v5 and is not fake news. I didn't say "oh is ugly and etc etc", I said it is not a fully stable release which is true, for example the vram algorithm needs some tweaking. Was the same when v4 came out and look how rock solid 4.5 now. Hence, I believe with coming versions of v5 it will be stabilize better. Look at the XP11 with Vulkan, how many iterations LR has taken to stabilize the beta (they are at beta9 now and still not fully stable), changing the graphics API is a massive work, same for OpenGL to Vulkan and DX11 to DX12. Therefore, definitely it needs some time to stabilize as there are many edge cases werent seen through the development and private testing.

V5 is stable enough for me , and with some tweaks it looks very good.. on KY old hardware (i7 4970k and 1080ti and 16gb internal mem) i run the Sim very smooth with all settings , read all visuals options out there on max!  I also used envshade that makes it look much better. I never experienced any crash so far.  it runs without any stuttering with true earth netherlands , the ground textures are loading very fast with all orbx addons, No blurry. Its sharp and detailed also at the distance. No weird shadow issues its looks solid. Its a serious big improvement over v4. And that on a old processor! I think there is something wrong with your hardware.

The only reason for using any AA at 4K is to reduce shimmering, if indeed one has that issue. I sit 2 feet away from a 27" 4K monitor and I can barely tell the difference between having AA either on or off. Like Simbol, I guess I must be without either logic or validity (or maybe my eyesight is poor).

Its easy make a screen record , then we can see of their is No shimmering on your setup. I was the first one who bought a 4K 34inch about 3 years ago , couldnt believe that someone was saying aa was not needed.. Hell yes its awfull at night without aa. It Will be fairly oké with 8xmssa , but 4x ssa at night is a lot better. I can even see the difference with 8xssa mostly in far distance with lot of objects.

  3. - Your videocard isn't that strong to render all that shadows. What Orangina suggested..

    -  Also when using autogen building, please set the distance for autogen at medium. Your cpu will spike at some locations.

    - If possible set your monitor frequency rate at 30HZ or use nvidia configurator to set it on half adaptive synchronisation, when u use the card for synchronisation turn of v-sync in prepar3d.

    - To minimize those micro stutter use fiber_frame_time_fraction between  0.01 and 0.16 in your config under main.

    - Set your target frame at unlimited, or at 30fps

    - U could push those terrain sliders to the max and use high resolution terrain textures checked, it will run fine in most cases.

    - Also u can crank op the texure resolution to 2048 in p3d v4. It had no fps impact.

    -FXAA to off.

    - If u get stutters at specific airports or addons, u may uncheck "sim objects" or "buildings" at the reflection settings.

Thanks for the reply but my graphics card is basically idle so the bottle neck is the CPU.  I have since eliminated some of the stuttering but the sim always stutters for a few seconds sometimes longer approaching payware airports from say 10 miles out which is still annoying, I presume this is normal and it’s the sim loading the scenery in.

I am running p3d v4 now and I have no stutters, at some payware airport u have to turn off some heave fps killers, like animations, 3d grass or some light effects.  There will be a loading stutter at some point in the sim, it wil hang a second, but not frequent, for the rest it should be smooth in all views, also at the approach.   Take a look at your fps on a heavy airport, does the fps fluctuate in great ranges?  Does your lowest fps become under your monitor refresh rate?  Appraching the aiport, I found that's the most heavy task. Your gpu load is low, because there is not much to render for the grapics card, mostly shadows, water, dynamic and reflections and AA are gpu intensive. set for example AA on SSA, your gpu load will increase.  The infinitymask wil stabilize your cpu load, it will spread it out over more cores, the load will become lower (no spikes), but it wil introduce some slower loading textures. You have to tweak somewhat.

    Hi all,

We recently just made v2.61 of PTA available for users that have upgraded to Prepar3D v4.2.

You can find the download via your order page on the SimTweaks website.

Please note: Due to shader structure change within Prepar3D v4.2, some of the tweaks in PTA v2.61 will NOT work in previous versions of Prepar3D. If you are not planning on upgrading from Prepar3D v4.1, you do NOT need to upgrade PTA. There isn't any new functionality in PTA v2.61, just compatibility with Prepar3D v4.2.

    Thanks,

    Matt.

What about users who just bought PTA as me and uses 4.1?  I got "patch block not found" errors on the popcorn and scattering effects tweaks. Can I download version 2.60 some where?

To much heat will throttle down the CPU -> slower data transfer to the gfx card -> not loaded or blurry textures, missing autogen etc.

Can be also a wrong or obsolete AM setting, but this depends VERY on your hardware configuration and CPU load of addons like AS, ASCA etc.

When the CPU is throttling you will notice also stuttering. His problem is nor CPU or GPU issues. I am experience the same issue. Go fly a pmdg , take a Seat at the wing, when u are landing and u will closing to to the ground, u will notice blurry textures that will slowly build up resolution , pause your Sim. If u flying higher the texture are sharp and loaded. I have a high end system, i dont have stutters and I Will gain 30fps or more in a heavy aircraft on addon AirPorts with almost Evert setting maxed out except autogen. Its simply a bug

Sorry to dig up this thread but I am suffering from the same issues as the OP with an identical setup although my CPU runs at 4.4.  I have FPS locked at 30 and when I can maintain that it’s smooth and stutter free, trouble is I can never maintain 30 coming into a detailed payware airport where the FPS drops to 20-22.  At this point the sim stutters and freezes momentarily.  Really annoying...

I have tried every combination going using AM, locked FPS, not locked, VSYNC ON OFF.  It all boils down to the fact my system can’t maintain 30 FPS on approach into payware sceneries.  I run moderate sliders and it seems no matter if I drop back further my system can’t maintain 30FPS.

My FPS used to drop in FSX but it didn’t stutter like it does now.  Monitoring my CPU I can see a spike of 100% on multiple cores at the point my sim splutters, FPS drops to like 2 and then back to 20.  It’s really annoying on final and I'm now fed up of tweaking to resolve, been at it for weeks.

I've resigned myself to the fact I must be CPU bottlenecked or never fly into detailed regions with payware aircraft.

I would really like to hear from you guys who can maintain 30 FPS into detailed payware scenery using say the NGX or FSlabs.  Please tell me what CPU you are using because I'm due a PC upgrade soon.

    Cheers

Trust me it has notting to do with your processor, i7 4.5 is enough. Its about tweaking the settings in the Sim and to gain more visuals with more fps , its all to do with the limitations or a slower GPU. I am tweaking prepare for years now. I have a older 4790k 4cores CPU running 4.5 and i had a old r9 290 AMD videocard, using a refresh rate of 30 with a 4K monitor.  Lets begin and try the following tweaks:  i have set the affinitymask at 14 with hyperthreading enabled,  I use a fiber frame of 0.01 thats all my tweaks in the .cfg. For the Sim try to turn ON all scènery sliders to the MAX is has not much impact. Turn down or turn off  the autogen building slider. Turn off simobjects for reflections! Turn down or off the water settings. Turn off dynamic reflections and dynamic lights. Finally Turn off casting Sim objects and terrain for shadows. Also turn the shadows sliders at medium setting.  For the anti alliasing use 4xmssa. Set your vsync on and unlimited your fps limitter.  With these setting u should run a minimum of 30fps at addon AirPorts also with heavy aircrafts. If u dont get those fps u need a other grapics card. I now use a 1080ti card and i can run every slider maxed out except for autogen building (CPU intensive) i will gain around 40fps in the pmdgs at the mist heavy addons AirPorts and it is very smooth no stuutering. Maybe most people are thinking the CPU is the bottleneck its not in my experience .

  8. Your settings are weird its eating fps without better visuals. Try the follow:

    Display setting page:

    AA : 4*SSA.  Filtering:16x.  Triple buffering: checked

    World setting page:

Terrain: all sliders at the max , except for mesh resolution set at 10m

Scenery objects: complexity at max, draw distance at max

Reflections: Check user vehicles, terrain, buildings

    Lightning setting page:

turn off dynamic lights and dynamic reflections (fps killers)

Shadows: Set shadow quality and shadow distance at ultra

Cast : uncheck Vegetation, particles and terrain (fps killer)

    Receive: uncheck Vegetation

Final note try to set your monitor refresh rate at 30hz! Enable vsync . If u get some stutter u can add fiber frame to your config file try 0.01.

Hm well same here with V4. My CPU & GPU are not under heavy load (50%) and still there are many unsharp textures arround me and it takes ages until they load and sometimes dont even load. I didnt change anything in the cfg. Any Ideas?

Set your mesh resolution at 10m or maybe 5m.. Everybody has that setting maxed out, but that wil slow down the sharpening process at close distance..try it
