This simulator is giving us everything we want and more. Also, RIP whoever has to update the Microsoft Flight Simulator Location Map after this video...it's going to take a very long time. At least they put the airport name and location in the bottom right.

Flight Simulator X, released over ten years ago, included several default airlines, including Orbit Airlines, World Travel Airlines, Pacifica Airlines, etc.
For purposes of nostalgia, I'm requesting that these default airlines make a return in the new version of Microsoft Flight simulator. Maybe even modernize and clean up their liveries a bit. What do you think?

QuoteWe've released a new beta branch for FSX:SE that will help us gain valuable new telemetry data that will help us in the development of the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. If you are interested in assisting us with this process, please follow the link below, select the branch labeled fsx-beta – External Beta and select “yes” when asked if you allow telemetry. Remember that you are always able to opt out of the beta branch and return to the normal branch at any time.
Setting up the Steam Client for FSX Beta
To join the FSX beta follow these simple steps:
1. Right Click on the FSX: Steam Edition in your Steam Library.
2. Select Properties.
3. Select BETA Tab.
4. Choose fsx-beta External Beta branch. You DO NOT NEED a code.
5. Restart your Steam Client.
To reverse the changes and go to live build once again, just select branch - NONE and restart your steam client.
Bug Fixes
Included in this update are also a number of fixes, which you can find below:
CHANGELIST:
Turbine- Resolved issue in N1 values where some settings were set to zero
- Fixed issue where fuel flow not saved and set to 0 when started in the air
Agent radar
- Resolved in flight issue which resulted in intermittent crashes when using navigation way-points
Conversion
- Impression fixes when converting knots to meters per second
Piston
- Small fixes to oil pressure table
- C172 oil pressure changed to start with a valid value
Live Weather
- Reintegrated Live Weather
- When a weather station METAR line reading is failing the data will now be extrapolated from the weighted mean of the closest available METAR sources, instead of resetting to default weather
Looks like FSX Steam got a beta update. Interestingly, this will somehow help the development of the new flight sim.

We'll probably know next week (September 19th), because the dev roadmap says "Build Program - Tech Alpha Timeline".
Edit: Not the alpha testers getting notified next week, I meant that we'll find out when testers will be notified next week.

Update threads for upcoming updates usually get locked until the update actually gets released. However, many people still want to discuss about expectations about upcoming updates, so I created this topic so that those people have a place to talk. After the update gets released, discussion can move to an "official" update thread. Until then, this is an open discussion thread about today's upcoming update. If any moderator thinks that this is a bad idea, feel free to shut this topic down.
(Also keep the "Is the update out yet?" posts to a minimum)

Better time compression
- No limits, even when on autopilot
- Fix large aircraft "wobbling" while time compression is on
-
Better default aircraft (quality>quantity)
- Hi-res virtual cockpits
- Even though I said quality over quantity, a wider range of default aircraft would be appreciated
- Good performance on low end machines
-
Better flight "replays"
- In FSX, the replays were extremely buggy (didn't work with some addons, if you were replaying to the ground then FSX would "slam" your aircraft onto the ground, etc.)
- More frequent recording "intervals" (in FSX, the time between recording intervals caused replays on smaller aircraft to seem janky)
- Have the replays work on flight surfaces (in FSX the replays did not record data on control surfaces, so if say you were pitching up everything would look weird since the elevators would stay still)
-
Better multiplayer
- Do I even need to bring up how bad default FSX multiplayer is?
- Better default sounds
Basically, just make the default vanilla experience better.
