Question on RMI distance display

Recommended Posts

Guest

I noticed that when flying manually (no plan in the FMC) and tuning vors (NAV2 on the first officer panel) that the DME does not display on the guage. The needle works perfectly. The only time I have seen DME on this guage is when flying an FMC flight plan, and the DME show is that of the next waypoint. Am I doing something wrong? By the way I really love the new 757! Thanks,Bill Gustafson, KSATAMD1200, 256Meg RAM, PNY Gforce 2 64 meg.

Bill-the RMI needle is dependent on the ND display mode (if you're in MAP mode, for example, the RMI will ONLY show waypoint information, and that ONLY if a flight plan is plugged into the FMC).If you turn the ND mode knob to display VOR, you tune in a VOR and you STILL don't see distance information displayed on the RMI, then let me know.

I guess that makes perfect sense. I just like uning plan mode so I can diplay airports and nav-aids. I will just have to let the FO be responsible for showing the DME! Thanks LefterisBill GustafsonKSAT (Alamo City!)

If you tune the F/O ND Mode to be VOR, both RMI gauges will display VOR DME at their right side. (Both RMI gauges' left side displays DME for the captain ND mode and the right side displays DME for the First Officer ND mode).

Thanks for the clarification. I wonder if any inclusions, revisions and corrections will be made to the flight manual? Regards,Bill GustafsonKSAT (Alamo City!)
