PMDG 737NG Happiness

Featured Replies

Hi All,After a couple of flights to acclimate myself to my new aircraft, I just had my first "real" flight. Wow! This plane has got all the right stuff. Now I know that if I'm ever stranded on a desert island with a laptap, a bunch of solar cells and only one 3rd party aircraft, I'll take the 737 :) This aircraft is real smooth (in framerate and operation). I had very little trouble getting started because everything is very much like the Dreamfleet 737 (I'm sure Boeing intended that way to reduce retraining) Also it's nice to have a flight model like the days of Fly2 and the PMDG 757. Set up everything right and this bird just smoothly glides right on to touchdown.Question: I'm using Radar Contact with my 737, and the ATC clears me to a specific altitude. Now if I set the MCP to this altitude (so the a/c won't go any higher then I'm cleared too) as I approach the altitude VNAV switches off and the FMC complains about my MCP setting. Is this real-life, or is there a better procedure? Thanks!!!!!!

If you are refering to an altitude restriction for departure, you can input this into the FMC (Note: There is a KNOWN issue with restrictions above 10'000 so please avoid FMC restrictions above this for now) and not have to mess with the MCP Cruise alt that you set piror to TO. Or you can always set the Alt you wish to fly up to on the MCP, engage LNAV and level change and hold off on VNAV until you are cleared for your enroute altitude. [h5]Best Wishes,Randy J.
