July 3, 200322 yr Commercial Member Morning All,After some trial and error attempts I have manage to create SID and STARS using as an example the LSGG and LSZH files that come with the 737.The First SID took me about 3 hours :-) until I manage to make it work as expected. The rest was writen very easy afterwards. My Basic question is is it necessary to start each part with KEEP HDG or HDG? At LGAV all SID from 03R say Intercept radial 038 from SPA until 1100 then turn left intercept RADIAL 086 to KRO VOR.If i write this as SID KEPIRXX RNW03L KEEP HDG INTERCEPT 038 FORM NAVAID SPA UNTIL 1100If I execute That at the FMC i get a point taht is exactly behind me and the a/c turns left to intercept it after departure. I manage to solve that by using SID KEPIRXX RNW03L HDG 038 UNTIL 1100 The Second problem is when I wrote SID KEPIRXX RNW03L HDG 038 UNTIL 1100 HDG 086 INTERCEPT radial 086 to NAVAID KROIn this Case I get the second point where the plane should turn to 086 to establish at 2000 miles away from my present position.I have found a solution to this also but declaring the fix at the fix layer.I Know that a convertor is being prepared but as far as I understand the convertor would be used just to convert the SID STAR of the PIC which had some problems. And finally Is there a way to write an Approach? the STAR covers bothe STAR and approach for each rwy?ChrisAthens Greece Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com
July 3, 200322 yr >And finally Is there a way to write an Approach? the STAR>covers bothe STAR and approach for each rwy?Hi there ChrisRight now the way to handle this is to write one full STAR or SID for each transition. For example let's say there are three transitions called WEB, DTW and DONE for a STAR called JANUS2. You would have to write 3 STARS, WEB.JANUS2, DTW.JANUS2 and DONE.JANUS2. All three would show as a STAR in the FMC but you would have in effect STAR JANUS2 with 3 transitions. More work but it's only 3 lines. You can cut and paste the identical parts. You can also do the same thing for runway specific SIDs. Not the best way but a workable work-a-round.LaterTerry
July 3, 200322 yr Not a contribution for this matter in SID/STAR creation but a quick note about it.On Mr. Stefan NAVDATA page states:"07/01/2003 The brandnew PMDG 737NG is released now. You can expect the monthly navdata-update for this great addon with beginning of the next cycle 0307 (coming on July 10th :-)) - With this cycle, all addons are available too and the long time of waiting is over ... "So in just a couple of days you'll have all those SID, STARS to copy & paste with no hussle.Gustavo B.Copa Virtual Airlineshttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/20814.jpg
July 3, 200322 yr Gustavo, Sorry, the navdata Stephan talks about will not include the sid stars form pic.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
July 3, 200322 yr Chris,I'm not sure I visualize well your SID, but bear in mind that when a chart says intercept course xyz and you are already on that course, the intercept calc routine will return results that could be invalid, as there are lots of intercepting points !The second example you mention might also be related to this. Intercepts, even when declared in wording in a chart should not always be modelled if they are not necessary.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
