KevinI've experienced this exact same problem. I found that if I change aircraft before I exit FS, to an aircraft other than the PMDG 737TNG, then the next time I start FS I change aircraft back to the PMDG 737TNG, this overcomes the problem.

Make sure the generators are on up on the overhead...Ryan

I was told that switching to another panel-mode by using SHIFT-3 wil get the full function of autopilot work again. It worked! But here we are, a bug it is.
