Alhoa Airlines

Hi all,Where do Alhoa fly their 737's to. I mean Surley they cant fly them to the US mainland, Are they ETOPS cleard for a 2,512 NM flight, or am i being silly.ThanksJason..

Yep, Aloha flies between cities in Hawaii and the west coast...like PHNL-KOAK, KSAN, etc...I fly the Honolulu-Oakland round trip every couple of months. Per another post today, the load editor and fuel usage numbers I've seen for the PMDG 737-700 indicates the airplane couldn't be loaded with many pax or baggage for this 2215nm or so flight and still meet reserve and ETOPS requirements. I'm thinking maybe Aloha had some special mods on their 737-700's to allow them to make this flight. They always have a video during the flight which shows the range of the airplane from Honolulu well into the continental US, almost to Denver, and also up to Anchorage. So they definitely have the legs!regards,

Thanks Marc, that flight plan and loading looks sensible, incl the head winds going west. The place I'm getting messed up on is the issue of MAX TOW. The PMDG load planner says MTOW is 133,00 lbs. Which means with the ZFW you listed, for a medium load, of 110,000 lbs, couldn't get the Aloha 73-700NG to Hawaii. You would need to get the ZFW number way down to have enough fuel for this range. The Continental flight manual I downloaded for the 700 series has a MZFW of 120,500 lbs, which is consistent with the PMDG fuel planner, but a MTOW of 154,500 lbs. However, the Continental birds are ETOPS certified for their western Pacific routes, and of course so are the new models that Aloha is flying. I suspect that PMDG is not modelling an ETOPS certified aircraft? That could explain why the takeoff speeds calculated seem so low to folks...they are consistent with what is in the Continental flight manual, but 120,000 lbs or so for a takeoff weight seems low for this 737-300. The takeoff weights are low because that is what is coming out of the load editor. I tend to blow through them and even with 6-7 deg NU trim I can't rotate until 140 kts or so. I'm sure PMDG will straighten this out, at least in my mind...regards,
