July 11, 200322 yr Hi all,I'm starting to get really frustrated. I saved a Cold&Dark situation, shutting everything down on the PMDG 737 following the checklists from the manual. Now every time I reload the plane from that situation for some reason even if everything is shutdown the #2 engine is already running and the VOR/ILS/NDB radios are not working.I then encounter problem with starting the #1 engine. I did not save from a default aircraft shutdown...so avionics haven't been touched. To make it more complete we need a pre-saved Cold/Dark situation from PMDG such as PSS did. That would top it off. It's really frustrating, and having to load everytime a default plane to shutdown everything is annoying.sorry, don't mean to bug but tonight I wanted to do an online flight and after 30 minutes I gave up. I really like the plane, hopefully you guys will think about implementing this situation in the future. Thanks for listening to my fristrations! :-))Regards,Bjorn
July 12, 200322 yr Hi Bjorn,When you have a PSS aircraft just create a flight with it having the "cold and dark" box checked.Save flight and check "make default".Now whenever you create a flight with the PMDG B737 ar any other aircraft you start cold and dark.Remember to cutoff fuel selectors for both engines on the throttle console before starting your engines and move back when starting oherwise they will not start.Maybe PMDG can solve this in the update when they implement a cold and dark situation.Good luck!Haromo
July 12, 200322 yr Hi Haromo, thaks a lot. Never quiet thought about that. Later on today I'll give it a try and see if it works out ok. I did find out that even if I shutdown from the PMDG and save that situation, I still have to select the default Cessna because the avionics go off for some reason.Anyway, thanks again for this suggestion.Regards,Bjorn
July 13, 200322 yr Hi Bjorn,If the previous tip works then you're okay, but just to make sure I wanted to add the following. Although I'm not entirely happy with the situation of cold and dark situations either, I don't have the same problems as you describe. What I did was create a new flight, choosing the PMDG737, and from that point on shut everything down. I then save the situation. I found that if I use that situation there are a few switches in the wrong position, such as the fuel cutoff switches, which I first put in the right position and if I then continue with that situation everything works as it should.I do remember that I once saved a situation AFTER making a flight and then shutting everything down, but when I started that one up there were a number of problems. So that's why I decided to try to get a "clean" situation to start with and that works for me.Leo Bakker
July 13, 200322 yr "Remember to cutoff fuel selectors for both engines on the throttle console before starting your engines and move back when starting oherwise they will not start."It's the same in real life (on non-Autostart engines)..... often resulting in excess EGT's/engine fires.... and a three or four day compulsory stopover whilst your engines are being replaced ;-)Happened on a Thai 747-400 a few months ago.Cheers.Ian.
July 14, 200322 yr Hey Ian, excellent to see you here!!!! Hope all is well!As a suggestion for starting "cold and dark" all you need to do is start with the default cessna located where you want. Once settled, shut off the cessna engine, turn the starter to off, switch off the battery. BUT LEAVE the AVIONICS ON. If you don't, you will not have radios. Switch to the PMDG 737, and get out your checklist!!!!Cheers and
July 14, 200322 yr "Hey Ian, excellent to see you here!!!! "Likewise :-) I just thought I'd come along for the rollercoaster ride ;-)"As a suggestion for starting "cold and dark" all you need to do is start with the default cessna located where you want. Once settled, shut off the cessna engine, turn the starter to off, switch off the battery. BUT LEAVE the AVIONICS ON."Darn.... I guess I'll have to learn to operate that complicated Cessna after all :( I knew I'd get there eventually.... I started on the 747-400 and have been working my way downwards (in size) ever since!Cheers,Ian.
