July 22, 200322 yr I'm used to clearing the scratchpad by pushing the blank key on 767PIC's FMC. Is that functionality supposed to work on the NG FMC too? I have no idea.So far, I haven't found anything better than deleting entries one character at a time, which can be tedious.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 22, 200322 yr LeeHaven't found any other way than the one you "discovered".Clearing the scratchpad with the one push on the BLANK key is great!PMDG? Maybe if one holds down the DEL key for a longer time the scratchpad could be cleared?Cheers, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
July 22, 200322 yr Hi guys,In real life if you press the CLR key momentarily it will clear the last character, and if you hold it it will clear all characters. Not essential, but it would come in handy.Leo Bakker
July 23, 200322 yr I recall that Hardy Heinlin was unable program the CLR key with a push and hold function for some reason (in PS1). I suspect the PIC team had a similar problem in PIC, so it sounds like they developed the blank key technique. There must be some sort of programming restriction in this regard(???).I've noticed that if there is an FMC message in the scratchpad, and you try to type something over the top of it, nothing happens (this is correct). In PMDG, if you remove the FMC message, however, your typed entry appears. Is this an 737-600/700 FMC thing? On our 767's and 747-400's, you have to start typing after the message has been cleared.Thanks.Cheers.Ian.
July 23, 200322 yr I believe it could be done. You can have separate mouse events for push and release, and you could reference a timer to see how long the mouse button was pressed. At least that is my understanding of the SDK, although I haven't tried that particular trick myself.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
July 23, 200322 yr A very simple solution: Just click the black bar on the right side of the FMC, then you are in the Keyboard mode. Then just hold down backspace on your keyboard, and the scratchpad is cleared in seconds ;)
