July 22, 200322 yr Hi Guys,Well today I thought I had made a big mistake! I got my brand new Radeon 9800 Pro to replace my old Radeon 8500. After I installed it, I suddenly thought about the PMDG 737....Oh no! I thought I was going to have to put the old card back in and generate the transfer code etc....but no!....all worked as it did before without any new code...How is this possible?? (not that I mind though)Any comments? Thanks,Glenn Harrall
July 22, 200322 yr Hi Glenn,The only time you will need to transfer the code is if you change out the Mobo, Processor or HD. Enjoy the new card!!! (i'm jealous!!)
July 22, 200322 yr Thanks Chris....I just fired FS up for a few mins earlier using 1600x1200 with AA and AF enabled.....man is it sweet. Still maintaining a steady 25 fps in high density areas! This was money well spent!!!Glenn
July 22, 200322 yr Awesome! I have the 9500 (non-pro). When I am not looking at the main panel, I can get between 15-20fps, but as soon as I get back in my "seat", it drops to 6-10. Just waiting for the patch :9
July 22, 200322 yr wow yea I just ordered a new Dell (XPS-P4 3.0GHz (Hyper-Threading), 1GHz DDR SDRAM, 200GB HDD, and the ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128.) Which 9800 Pro do you have, and does it make a huge diff over the 8500 (I currently have a Asylum GF4 ti4600) Thanks a ton for letting me know you like the 9800, do you tweak it at all, if so, how would u reccommend tweaking a ATI, any ideas? Thanks a ton!
July 23, 200322 yr Hi Jamie,Only just got the 9800 Pro but so far it rocks! My old 8500 (64mb) was being overclocked to the max, but this thing simply blows it out of the water. Its like chalk and cheese.Settings so far are stock (no overclocking) 2x AA 8xAF (performance mode) on the Catalyst 3.6 driver set. Resolution is set at an awesome 1600 x 1200 with most sliders at max. 100% AI (PAI) and many add on sceneries (simflyers, UK2000 etc). Framerate is a solid 25 that only drops to around 20 even with masses of AI and add ons. This card is money well spent, you wont regret it!Rest of my system:Athlon XP 2700+512mb DDR RAM (dual channel mode)ASUS A7N8X DeluxeRadeon 9800 Pro 128mbYour new system will be even better of course...Enjoy it..Glenn Harrall
July 23, 200322 yr thanks a ton, my system is fairly close to your system though, in the processor speed, and i have a tad more ram, so I should have at least your frames, thanks a ton, that really reassured me that i got a nice system, I really appreicate your prompt response. Have fun with the 737! Thanks again for your help!
July 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member Gents-I *really really* recommend adding as much RAM as possible on your machine ;-). While our aircraft works fine with 512MB, having extra memory helps a LOT with a steady, smooth-performing Windows XP. Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
July 23, 200322 yr Lefteris -I couldn't agree more! 1GB comes fairly cheap and it is well worth it to double up from 512. That and a large page file (1.5G to 2G). Smooth sailing!
