August 26, 200322 yr Hello all,I've just purchased the 737. Very nice - and so far no problems with FS9. I'm curious - is there a manual or some documentation I'm missing ? I don't seem to be able to find much on a manual for using the PMDG 737 , and in particular the FMC. I've downloaded some documents from the web site, but these are mostly 'checklists' rather than a comprehensive manual. Thanks,Paul L.
August 26, 200322 yr Yes this is true enough Paul, time has been spent getting the craft to a stable point first, it's really better if I think about it because of some added things on the FMC itself since the first release. I admit though that it must be tough not know how to operate the FMC but I can tell you it is coming. I might write something nice up for the users myself very soon while I have some time on my hands that will cover FMC operation...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. August 26, 200322 yr How do I at least get started. I have no idea where / how to check for integrity of NavData, I can't even initialise the unit. When I'm sitting at an airport and I attempt to enter pre-flight data all I get is a frozen FMC with "no active route" or "not in database" message. A few very basic steps would be appreciated - otherwise the FMC is essentially useless to me at this stage (and is one of the reasons I purchased the product). Thanks,Paul L.> Yes this is true enough Paul, time has been spent getting>the craft to a stable point first, it's really better if>think about it because of some added things on the FMC itself>since the first release. August 26, 200322 yr Hi Paul,There is a short tutorial by Fred Clausen in the Avsim library. Try using 'Extended Search' and put his name in the Author field and then search. Or seach for the filename pmdg_737ng_flight_tutorial.zip. It will help you "at least get started". You will need to have the Navdata installed properly first though. I got the NAVDATA at http://www.navdata.at/ and it's filename is 767PIC-PMDG_all_308.zip. I know there were some issues getting to that website. I don't know if they've been resolved yet or not. Ok, I just looked and there is a Temporary link to get the Navdata there. If you want the SIDS-STARS file I have(it may not be the lastest and greatest but it works) leave your e-mail address on here.Navdata gets installed to here...C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9FMCWPNavDataThe files I have in there are..airports.datfmc_ident.TXTwpNavAID.txtwpNavAPT.txtwpNavFIX.txtwpNavRTE.txtSIDS-STARS go here...C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PMDGSIDSTARSHope that helps at least a little! :-waveRegards,Jim Richards
