September 5, 200322 yr CWS in the 737 is an attitude hold mode, so you can hand fly the airplane, and it will hold whatever attitude you're in when you release control pressure, with a couple of exceptions:"A Reading from the Book of Bulfer, 737 Cockpit Companion, Page 114, wherein it is written:"If bank angle is less than 6 degrees, when you release the control pressure, the wings roll level and the current heading is held unless you've got a VOR/LOC/APP capture going or you're below 1500 Radar Altitude with the gear down.If you've got a VOR/LOC/APP capture going, the aircraft will maintain bank until the capture. If you activate CWS in ALT HOLD mode, and release control pressure within 250 feet of your selected altitude, the A/P pitch mode will engage in Altitude Aquisition Mmode and returns to the selected altitude in ALT HOLD mode. You'd normally use CWS in turbulence, or any other situation where you can do a better/smoother job of flying the airplane than the autopilot, and plan on returning control to the autopilot.I don't know if CWS is modelled in the PMDG 737.
September 5, 200322 yr Thanks Timothy I think I used it once and it screwed up the Autopilot so bad I had a hard time getting things back.Richard
