Using VNAV with PMDG 737

Featured Replies

Hello,Those reports make me think there's an issue with some test in place to force descent phase at some point in the flight if it is required (for instance if aircraft does never reach cruize alt).Could you retry, making sure you are NOT tuned to any VOR/ILS prior and after take off ?Thanks.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com

ok, but waht will change with VNAV if i don't have any VOR/ILS tuned?

Ah, does not sound logical, does it ? ;-)I had to make some provision to force descent phase, for instance in situations where the aircraft never reached cruize altitude. So I force descent/appraoch if needed when an ILS is tuned, but I forgot to filter out VOR - non ILS - navaids and it went un-noticed.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com

First of all, let me say I am a novice at the 737NG. I am perusing this forum continually though trying to learn something. I tried flying your flight plan exactly KSAN LNSAY2.FALCC SLI LAX RZS J501 BSR.HADLY using the exact procedures you used, HEADING SEL MCP Altitude, etc all the way to FL350 and with only a small glitch (after reaching FL350 for a short time, plane descended a bit, then returned to 35K), I did not encounter any problems getting VNAV to function using your settings (selecting VNAV after reaching and leveling at 4000 then again at 8000. I'm not sure why it isn't working for you, but there seems to be some experts in this forum, so I am sure they will get you straightened out. Happy landing.Mike M.KDFW

Hi again; I redid the departure using 'place-bearing/place-bearing' waypoints instead of VORLOC, to join a VOR radial, and when I selected VNAV at the same point as before, no problem, worked like a charm.Mike F.

Yes, same with me as with Mike.. when i didn't tune any VOR/ILS VNAV worked fine(it still leveled off with MCP SPD isntad of FMC SPD when i got to my restriction of 9000ft, but as said earlier, that's a nother problem, that i hope you guys at PMDG will fix as well :) )

So, is enything going to be done in order to fix this VNAV problem?Roar Nicolaisen

Roar,No ;-)If you search the forum, you'll see that yes, SOMETHING was done.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com

>>Hi>>Nicola>>and the VORLOC Button is selected Whys that??>>>Hi,>>I selected VORLOC because TOP5A departure: to perform this DP,>i have to intercept radial 168 inb TOP VOR. For speeds, in the>pictures i forgot to set climb speed, anyway i have just tried>again, but always same error.>>I give up :(Known bug... selecting VOR/LOC puts the FMC into descent phase. This will be fixed in SU2.Fly it in VNAV and use the HDG SEL to steer and let me know what happens.
