September 7, 200322 yr I love this 737, but I am having 2 problems with it right now:1) I can not get the left engine to start. I have seen a couple of topics here on this issue, but I have been unable to resolve it. I have followed the checklist many times, and I am reasonably sure that all of the switched are in the right position. I have the 1.1 SU installed. Any ideas?2) I can't seem to figure out the proper settings for the hydrolics systems. If I turn on ENG 1 and 2 hydrolics, the pressure redlines as soon as I increase the throttle at all. If I turn off the ENG 1/2 switches, the fault panel lights up a hydrolic warning that stays on through the whole flight. What are the proper Hydrolic settings for the various phases of flight?Sorry, make that 3 newbie questions:3) Anytime I make a bad entry into the FMC, if I get a "UNABLE NEXT ALT" message, no matter what I do, I can't clear that message, even if the error is fixed and VNAV engages. For the rest of the flight, I have to type blindly into the entry section, because the error is blocking the line. Thanks for any help you can give.Warren [email protected]
September 8, 200322 yr Bump.Anyone?Just one more bit of info. If I hit ctrl+E, FS can also start the right one but not the left engine.
September 8, 200322 yr Bit more helpful if you tell us what version of FS you are running and whether you shut down the engines in the first place. To be safe, bring up the throttle panel and move the fuel cutoff levers to the down position. If you hear the engines winding down, you know what your problem is.As far as the hydrolics, they are pretty simple, two engine driven (run when engine is running) and two electric driven (don't require engine running).Ray
September 8, 200322 yr I am running FS9, and using the default cold and dark file from PMDG. I have also tried loading the 172 and shutting down that way, but it makes no difference. I am starting with the fuel cutoffs down, and setting them to idle at about 22-25% N2, the engine just won't grab. I have no problems at all starting the right engine, it starts on the first try every time. It also doesn't matter which one I try to start first. Right one is easy, left one is impossible. I am using the exact same procedures for both. Thanks,Warren Fischer
September 8, 200322 yr That seriously sounds like the unpatched problem. Take a look at the Init page in the FMC and post the version number reported there...Ray
September 8, 200322 yr It says:PMD001 (U10.3)I have no idea what exactly that means, but as far as I know it is patched to 1.1. I guess I could try patching it again to see if that helps.Warren Fischer
September 8, 200322 yr Humm, I have U10.4. If you do patch once again make sure to use the remover tool loacted on PMDG's web site. Then install the first release and then the FULL SU1-1. September 9, 200322 yr "Just one more bit of info. If I hit ctrl+E, FS can also start the right one but not the left"I believe this problem can be bypassed by using real world procedures for engine start ;-) If in doubt, use real world procedures, Warren.Cheers.Ian.
September 9, 200322 yr "What are the proper Hydrolic settings for the various phases of flight?"It seems to vary from airline to airline, Warren. I've walked into a cockpit after a flight and found all the pumps still on.Basically, however...Engine pumps are left on (even when parked at the gate). The engines are not turning, so they are not a hazard to anyone. Sometimes the elec pumps are left running (not sure why... some say to keep the brake system pressurized, but the park brake system should retain pressure after hydraulics have been switched off for a considerable period of time). The elec pumps should be switched on before pushback, but if you check the PPRuNe site's Tech Log section (todays messages), you may notice that there is an exception (e.g when a steering lockout pin is not available).Perhaps you can post a screenshot of the hydraulic indications? At this point I can't explain what you are seeing.... unless your fuel tanks are almost empty?Cheers.Ian.
September 9, 200322 yr Randy,You're 10.4 because you have not yet released stuff !SU1.1 is 10.3anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
September 9, 200322 yr OK, this is strange. I just reinstalled the update over the top of the old one. I got several messages about certain files being the wrong version (confirming that I had already done it). But now everything is fixed.Only 1 test flight, but left engine started first time, and hydrolic readings are now normal.Strange, but at least it is fixed.Thank you everyone for your help.Warren Fischer
September 9, 200322 yr HAHAHA yeah I thought about that afterwards Anthony hehe..[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
