FMC help! V speeds not entering

Featured Replies

I am creating a route with the FMC, everything is put in (I'm pretty sure) but when I get to the takeoff page, and select what flaps I want, the V1, V2, and V3 speeds do NOT get entered. What am I doing wrong which causes them to not enter? I thought I went through everything else and set it up correctly!

HiYou need to select your Dep/RWY first then go back to the Takeoff page and select vspeeds.Bill

The Vspeeds will not fill in if you are not within permissible takeoff boundaries. Check your fuel/cargo/pax loadout coupled with flaps ... they may produce a impossible Vspeed requirement.Ray

Alex the V1 V2 and VR do not show up automatically, you have to click on the LSK's next to them and they will show up on the FMC.

Then maybe my weights are wrong, because when I click on them, they give me some crazy number in the millions

It's a known glitch in the FMC that PMDG is working on fixing. For now, there is good news, just make sure you add the outside air temperature along with the other required entries before selecting the V1, VR and V2 speeds. Also, when entering ZFW, be sure to enter them in two decimal format, i.e., 83,000lbs = 83.0Regards,Chad C. DeMuth-OlsenPilothttp://home.bresnan.net/~atc01/Images/chad...1_signature.jpg

What is a know glitch Chad? V speeds work fine if you fill in the required information.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. PMDG said it was a glitch. Though, I lean toward your opinion on making sure all the required information is added before calculating the v-speeds. As a pilot myself, I know I need to know the OAT for aircraft performance. But, as I was experimenting, I left that field out when calculating the V-speed in the TAKEOFF menu. I'm not familiar enough with the FMC to know if the real FMC would catch this and report the missing field or just give the weird numbers in the v-speeds?Regards,Chad C. Hey again Chad, Well there is required information which is shown as BOXES on the FMC pages, you must fill those out. All other information while desirable is optional like forcast winds ISA DEV etc but the FMC will still give you V SPDS. You can either choose a pre defined R-TO or use the tempt method .[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Interesting...The OAT field does not have the boxes that you are referring about. I see them in other fields but not the OAT field. Does your FMC show the boxes in the OAT field? Take a look at the image below, this is what I get if I don't add the OAT information with the other required fields:http://home.bresnan.net/~atc01/Images/FMC-Error1.gifRegards,Chad C. Are you 100% postitive you are updated correctly? Did you get any mesages while running SU1-1 setup? I have not seen that before and do not enter the OAT. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. That was exactly my same concern...So, I completely uninstalled the 737 package using the REMOVE tool, installed the base package then used the SU1-1 FULL update. Don't get me wrong, I do get the correct v-speeds but only after I fill in the required fields AND include the OAT. I noticed that if you enter the ZFW in thousdands verses the two digit format you will also get a simular v-speed error calculation. So, do you know if the real FMC will detect these errors if the pilot enters them in wrong, i.e., overweight, no OAT inpuit, etc.?Regards,Chad C. DeMuth-OlsenPilothttp://home.bresnan.net/~atc01/Images/chad...1_signature.jpg

I am a newbie, what is the OAT?And I could be seeing the same problem as you because for the zero weight I enter 850000 instead of 85.0

OAT= Outside air tempt. For the ZFW, why not just click on the # 1 left LSK? This will calculate the weights FOR you....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
