September 11, 200322 yr Why do some carriers have them and some do not? It seems to me that for the price of a new 737NG the cost of winglets would be nominal and worth the increased efficiency? Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?"There may be minimal benefits for 737's which only fly short routes I suppose... plus there may be some surprising costs, Ryan. I know we had to spend an awful lot of money on modifying our maintenance hangars to allow our 747-400's (with winglets) to go in the same place as our regular 747's (sans winglets).Cheers.Ian.
