September 13, 200322 yr I am totally in love with this aircraft. Congratulations PMDG!When landing in my home town (Oporto - LPPR) I find that the most frequently active runway is 35. This runway does not have (yet) a ILS system. So I wonder if my final approach procedure is correct. Can any of you more experienced sim pilots explain how such an approach should be flown? I mean, from 12 miles out, 3000 ft (over the IAF), how should one set the AP and A/T, when should one disengage the AP and/or A/T?I've read the (great) tutorials, but they assume an ILS approach, and I think I have already mastered that one. Thanks for your feedback.Best regards,Sergio SilvaPortugal
September 13, 200322 yr VNAV is the prefered method for non ILS approaches if you have the calculated path in the FMC LEGS page. You can also use V/S if you desire. Some non ILS approaches specify a lower VNAV DA than the published MDA so use of the A/P might be required at least until visual is established. With VNAV APP you can use HDG SEL, LNAV or LOC. This is ONE WAY and by no means the only way...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. September 14, 200322 yr Randy,Thanks for your coment on the subject. Indeed it cleared out some issues to me.Very best regards,Sergio SilvaPortugal
September 14, 200322 yr Non VNAV :Look at the DES page. When you are holding at 3000 ft and the VB (vertical bearing) reading on the page shows 3 degrees (which is the usual glide slope)to the runway "wpt" (make sure the rnw is selected), then set the VS to the VS next to the VB, engage VS, and you're (more or less) set ;-)anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
