September 15, 200322 yr Hello there folks,Ok, I'm really thinking in upgrading my system to run PMDG with more FPS and smooth. As I have noticed many of you have done such a thing, what's the best item to upgrade right now?I have:- AMD XP 1.8- Asus A7V8X-X- GF4 TI 4200- 512BM DDR (300 mhz ???)You think it should be best to spend on more 512 DDR or on CPU upgrade for lets say, about 2.4 or 2.6 GHz?:)O know the plane really likes RAM memory, but I dont know if its the case of increasing RAM or give the CPU a upgrade for the complex processing. :-/Thanks for any help! :)Eduardo
September 15, 200322 yr Quick question back at you:Bring up Task Manager without FS running and tell us what your clean configuration memory use is at. Also tell us what operating system you are running. With those two, it is easier to answer your question as to whether RAM would be helpful.Ray

September 15, 200322 yr CPU and RAM! Video card is good enough but a faster CPU will ALWAYS be the most important followed by RAM. Get lots of it and make sure it's DDR varity. 512 megs I consider the mimimum. 768 or 1 GIG of RAM is pretty perfect for FS..[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. September 15, 200322 yr Ram will help, but you can probably do some tuning to clear out some that you are already eating up with stuff. Thats a pretty high rate for nothing loaded ...Ray
September 15, 200322 yr Hello I have a p4 3.0gHz, asus p4p800 mother board 800mhZ FSB, 1gig ram DDR800, Gforce 4 V44.23. Depending upon how you setup FS9 will determine how fast it will run. At times I can get 40-50fps change the aircraft like PMDG 737NG and be back down to 20-30 fps, and yes, I do get single digit numbers too. If I running PMDG 737NG I will cut back on the graphics just because...One the other hand Captainsim 727, I will increase the graphics.regardsNoboru
