Strange FMC calculations.

Featured Replies

G'day GuysI did an interesting flight tonight with some unusual results in terms of some strange numbers coming up on the FMC calculation side of things. The flight was from Sydney YSSY to Darwin YPDN a flight of just over 1700nm in length.Loaded up the 700 w/winglets to MZFW which meant doing the run at absolute min fuel.Planned to arrive in Darwing with just over 2000Lb left in the tanks.I took these two screenies en route to point out a couple of things which i do not think have been mentioned around the board. The primary concern i had was the innacurate fuel calculations which the FMC is generating and whether everyone else is having the same problems..Both the screens where taken with nice stabilised power settings to make the calcs accurate.Take a look at this shot.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/39329.jpgAs you can see we have got 242nm to go to nived and we are burning 4240Lb/hr of fuel, groundspeed 389kts.So 242/389 times 4240 equals a burn to Nived of 2637Lb.Given we have on board 9340Lb of fuel would mean we should have o'head nived something in the order of 6700LB not 4300.Note the following leg shows arrival fuel of 0!The arrival fuel originally at nivid also showed 0 and had been counting up for some time from 0 even though the groundspeed had been constant for the previous hour.Almost the whole flight was done at real time. All waypoints on the entire flight had massive fuel calculation errors which only corrcted themselves as you neared the approaching waypoint(within 15nm)Here is another shot from slightly later on the nivid leg.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/39330.jpgAs you can see the same problem still exists. On a smaller note. When in time accel mode the autothrottle seems to hang or be very unresponsive to any speed changes in the aircraft.By removing time accel you get a rapid power change to restore desired speed but as soon as accel is reengaged throttle slow down occurs.Anyway hope the info is of some use in the developement of this awesome piece of gear and i am looking forward to SU2 with great enthusiasm.Keep up the great work.

MmmmmTotal silence!Does anyone else actually check the fuel calcs the FMC is coming up with while flying around?Or am i alone in having this problem? Most unusual to be greated by deafening silence at this forum which is normally pretty active. Also is there a master list of what issue's remain to be fixed somewhere around as i can't find one here.Bye for now

Well the version you are running is out of touch with the current phase of beta progress, hence the lack of responce ;) I don't see this whatsoever in the version I have. Stay tuned for SU2....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
