October 8, 200322 yr Hello,I'm having a hard time making a single ch. or autoland approach and need to find what I'm doing wrong. I'm using KMCO/18R, but happens everywhere:running FS2004/737NG clean install with 1-1 patch, AIRINC 0309(I think).* using MCP for spd/alt/hdg, A/T, F/D on* rwy ext. 15 miles, lined up nicely* ILS ident appears in display, both NAV radios tuned to localizer* hit VOR/LOC* flaps 5, 190kts on MCP, 2100'* I start to notice that the airspeed is dropping, it isn't keeping up with the MCP speed dialed in* flaps 30, gear down, airspeed keeps slipping* 170kts on MCP, hit APP* SINGLE CH in display* just before the g/s starts to drop, I hit the 2nd AP* the g/s diamond comes alive and the plane starts dropping and following the g/s nicely.* at a few hundred feet above the runway, the g/s diamond drops, the engines spool up and I fly right over the runway.I read in a previous post that the airspeed is probably too low and this happens to prevent a stall. If so, why can't I hold the MCP speed? I also tried turning off the A/T and keeping the airspeed manually at about 170-180kts, but the same thing happened.I also tried with a very light payload/fuel, average payload/fuel. I know the FMC calculates approach speeds. Should the A/T automatically command these? Out of about 50 attempts, I have auto-landed successfully 3 times, without knowing what I did right.Any ideas or help are really appreciated!Regards,Mark T. @ KMCO
October 8, 200322 yr Can you try going by my post here and give it another go?http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=12455&page= How heavy are you when trying to land? No the A/T does not keep the APP speeds, you must manually dial the VREF in. VREF + 5 knots is DEFAULT. So make sure A/T switch is ON and SPEED button is illuminated and set to VREF + 5 and you should be OK. As a sidenote, on SU2, the A/T SWITCH will automaticly switch OFF now in this situation on landing ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. October 9, 200322 yr Randy,Thanks for the reply. Sure enough, it was simply VREF speeds; they were too high already and I was pushing them up further. The FMC approach speeds +5 worked like a charm. Flew half a dozen approaches without a problem. This is a fantastic plane.Regards,Mark T. @ KMCO
