October 14, 200322 yr Hi,When I program the FMC there seems to be a difference between the latitude/longitude shown in FMC vs the position in FS9 which I can check via CTRL-Z or via the Map view in FS9.Navigating with the FMC, the FMC thinks I am landing on the runway of an airport although actually I've landed in farmland. Checking the mapview also confirms that I have landed 20-80 miles away from the airport. In the screenprint you can also see another example. In the POS-page of the FMC I have entered KIAH and it shows up the latitude/longitude. This is different than the position shown at the top of the FS9 screen. Also, looking at the Flight Display you can see it plots the the airport way off the position I currency have.I can appreciate there is a small difference in the position as an airport is quite large. However, I do not expect the difference to be a full degree off !I am using the latest AIRAC.Is someone else having the same problem ? What to be done ?Regards,Fritshttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/42981.jpg
October 14, 200322 yr Ahhh I can solve that for you...What your seeing in the top line is the details of your last flight. Simply click LSK1 and the information will refresh.Happy Flying
October 14, 200322 yr Hi Liam,Sorry, I did not mean the top line of the FMC, but the top of the FS9 window where it shows the position via the CTRL-Z functionFMC shows: N28 60'00 W095 00'00FS9 shows: N29 59.30 W095 20'34Also I don't understand why the FMC shows 60 degree-seconds. In my opinion it should then show as N29 00.Regards,Frits
October 14, 200322 yr Oh ok sorry! In that case I have no idea :-hmmmThe only thing that I could think of is that the NavData Database might be corrupt???Sorry I couldn't helpGood Luck :-)
October 14, 200322 yr Hi Frits, the second line shows the reference coordinates for your airport. They're contained in the FMC database and will be the same, regardless of which gate you're at. I believe some real-world FMCs have the option to select your actual gate from the database, but I don't know if the 737NG FMC is one of them (or indeed, if there are different models available for that aircraft). You need to enter your actual position in the first line (where it says 'last position'). You can either do this manually, or right-click the 1LSK. Your coordinates in the first line should now be the same as the FS9 coordinates.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
October 14, 200322 yr Gosta,I've got the problem solved. My International Settings were set to Dutch. This implies the decimal point is actually a 'comma' and the thousand-separator is a 'period'.Changing to US settings, I now have a real decimal point (not a comma) and now the position is in agreement to FS9.Cheers
October 19, 200322 yr I have the same problem. On the real plane, when selecting the Line select key 1RH on the pos init page, would allow you to enter the present position manually. When trying so, there is always a format error....Is there somebody who tried out this method as the method used on the real plane is not the same as on the sim. Also, on the PMDG, when selecting a T/O runway, no runway extention line is marked on the airfield (if the airfield is marked!!!!!)I think this is a major handicap in flying this bird, as it is no longer possible to complete and IFR/CAT 3 flight and approach.Speedrick
