Bad weather, great autopilot

Hi all,I just completed a flight from KLAX to KSAN in the 737. Weather at KSAN (reported by Activesky wxRE) was wind 349/30 and 1/8 mile vis. Rwy 27 was reported in use however the ILS only showed a LOC and no G/S (I don't fly in the US much so not sure if this is the case at KSAN). Time to break the rules and go for a full autoland on 09 :-) This PMDG 737 pegged the ILS and G/S all the way to a perfect landing despite the near 30 kt crosswind. That's what I call impressive! Anybody else had a similar experience? RegardsJCPS Are there any San Diegans (?) out there who can confirm the weather reported by Activesky for 25 Ocober??

I think 1/8sm visibility and 30kt winds do not generally go together. This was obtained with this URL: [link]http://www.uswx.com/us/stn/?stn=KSAN&n=24&code=c[/link]. Change the KSAN for other US ICAOs.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

Thanks Lee, your point about the 30kt wind and 1/8sm vis not going together certainly passed me by! Do you have any experience of more accurate weather generation programmes? I'd value your opinion on which is the better.regardsJohn C

Boy, I guess you really broke the rules! ILS to rwy 09 at KSAN requires 350 and 1 mile for higher than standard CAT I mins with no CAT II/III approaches available. Rwy 27 is in fact a localizer approach only. No glide slope available. Looking at Lee's post regarding KSAN Metar reports there weren't any winds reported greater than 5 knots. The value after the "A" references altimeter setting and not wind speed. :7:-waveMike CKPHX
