October 30, 200322 yr IRL when pressing the TOGA button (or screw) the first push should set 42.5% Check "two stable" then push again for the selected take-off thrust setting. I know that SU2 will have a button, but will it be the same as now, 1st push achieve take-off power or will it be a two push affair? On a lighter note, if this sim gets much more realistic, the next thing we'll be asking for is sector pay :-)
October 30, 200322 yr There will be no new *button*, at least not on the main panel, there will be one on the virtual panel's throttle quadrant though. As for the different thrust settings (one push= two push=) you will have to wait to see ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
October 30, 200322 yr Randy,How about a compromise, a button in the correct place, NOT the main panel, but the throttle quadrant. After all if you don't ask, you don't get!
October 30, 200322 yr >Randy,>>How about a compromise, a button in the correct place, NOT the>main panel, but the throttle quadrant.>>After all if you don't ask, you don't get!It is there now, in the Beta for SU2. However, it is only in the VC. The reason being, on the 2D throttle panel, you can't see the switches. If I remember right, the throttles themselves hide the buttons. So, that basically means that PMDG would have to be unrealistic to get the buttons shown on the throttle panel. IMNSHO, the screw is a fine compromise between reality and functionality.
October 30, 200322 yr >IRL when pressing the TOGA button (or screw) the first push>should set 42.5%I've never heard of this, where did you get this from? :-hmmmIn the real sim, I was taught to manually push the levers to around 40%, check stable and then press TOGA to give the selected takeoff power. All the notes I have don't mention this two-push feature either. This is not to be confused with the use of the TOGA button for a go-around, where first push gives reduced go-around thrust.Quote from smartcockpit.com:"The take-off mode is engaged by pressing either TO/GA P/B with the aircraft on ground, the A/T armed and the desired take-off N1 thrust limit selected from a CDU. The A/T annunciation changes from ARM to N1 and the thrust levers advance toward take-off thrust."
October 30, 200322 yr "I've never heard of this, where did you get this from?"A 747-400 manual perhaps? :-)A second push on the 747-400 TOGA switch(es) removes derates... but only after takeoff (and before CLB becomes active).Cheers.Ian.
