October 30, 200322 yr When I just turn on the autopilot it wants to climb nonstop at 2000-400fpm! The same goes when I try to set a alt.. and I have no up and down control when the autopilot is on.. even if I don't have the alt engaged!Ryan Strad
October 30, 200322 yr You have CMD A engaged but NO modes (i.e pitch or roll modes) so you are in CWS (not really modelled in the version you are running but you are still in manual control. If you desire the AP to control your aircraft, the first thing *I* would do there (according to your screenshot) is set the MCP speed to your current speed, ARM the A/T, push the SPD button, Hit ALT HLD (Pitch mode)and HDG SEL (roll mode) and then choose what I want to do next. If you want to climb (reset the MCP alt), and choose either LVL CH or V/S since you appear not to have a FMC route programmed for VNAV engagement. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. October 30, 200322 yr Ok, I think I know what your problem is ;) It looks like you don 't have any autopilot pitch modes selected. Try selecting LVL CHG and see what happens. Basically, what I think is happening is that you have enaged CWS (Control Wheel Steering), and then have switched to normal AP operation. You need to selected both pitch and roll modes again, because CWS clears your pitch/roll modes, AFAIK.
October 30, 200322 yr Ok, no modes selected. The only way to have a pitch mode automatically set at AP engagement (LVL CHG) is engaging AP in CMD mode while taking off in TOGA mode.Other than that, select a pich mode before engaging the AP if you don't want to be in control wheel steering pitch when CMD engages. Also, if you want to use LVL CHG, the AT should be on...cheersanthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
