I real operations, what is the minimum runway length for a B737-700 that is making a very short flight (250 miles) with low numbers of passengers?Mike K

There has been some debate about this, but I think the consensus is around 5000-6000 ft.

We operate the -700 out of SDU where 02R/20L is 1323x42m or 4341x138ft! :-eek We have been told that this is the shortest runway that 737s in scheduled service operate.Heidi

Hi Heidi,To my knowledge Maersk Air flies their 737-700 at Vagar on the Faroe Islands (EKVG) with a RWY length of 1250m or 4101ft. I guess they have some max weight restrictions on both take off and landning! ;-)Regards,
