November 10, 200322 yr Dear All,I keep enjoying this PMDG bird more than any other thing I used so far for MSFS!!!One area where I find it particularly good is in the modeling of the flight director system. Contrarily to what was usual with fs2002 and the various add-on products I bought for it, fs2004 and 737NG perform beautifuly in as far as "flying the flight director" is concerned. Even under extreme crosswinds I can perfectly bring the aircraft down the glidepath/LOC following the FD indications.I wonder if your FD is using native fs2004 code (I am aware this changed a bit in fs2004), or if you have programmed your own FD?Anyway, for the VERY FIRST time in the "history" of MSFS I've been able to adhere strictly to the term: "fly the FD" and not end up 100 feet to one of the rw sides!!!
November 10, 200322 yr This AP is ground up, no Mickey Mouse stuff here. She is a nice bird huh ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
November 10, 200322 yr I agree, this is the first time the FDs (and coupled ILS approaches to be honest) actually do what they're supposed to in MSFS and actually fly you down the centreline. I used to actually resort to flying the PSS A320 on a NAV mode and follow the glide with V/S rather than using APP mode.Dave
November 11, 200322 yr Commercial Member Actually the FD *is* what is customarily called the autopilot...Pressing CMD or err... other buttons you only couple the FD (or more proper the AFDS) to the ailerons/elevators/trim.I made sure there is not even a hint of MSFS autopilot or autothrottle technology in what you have. It has been written from scratch by yours trully for ahem... yours trully :) who also likes to fly the "bars".Regards,Vangelis ======================================= E. M. November 11, 200322 yr Well, and it should be seriously considered as a major breakthrough in the MSFS gauge/systems programming "art".I have just a few minutes every day to play flightsims... Lately I have been using a situation I created starting from the active at Lisbon airport. I download real world weather and perform a circuit, allways ending on an ILS approach to either rw03 or rw21.Last week there were some strong winds and rain showers over LPPT, and it was a pleasure, and a really rewarding experience to operate the aircraft relying solely on AT and FD!!!I never missed the rw. Sometimes I was "blind" down to the decision alt/point (depending on the type of app), but as soon as the rw came to view I was right on the centerline, even if crabing a hell of a LOT of degrees to the left/right depending on wind direction/intensity.Appart from a few flights in a couple of GA models I have for fs9, for me 737NG + fs2004 == succ(fs2004) ;-)
