Do I have enough computer power for 737NG?

Featured Replies

I am running a relatively slow and low end pc in today's standard; AMD Athlon 1600 xp with 512MB DDR ram and 64MB Geforce 2 Ti card. Do you think I can enjoy FS9 and PMDG 737NG with my current system? I am realistic and won't expect running the sim with all the sliders put to max and I can live with not having all the eye candy that FS9 offers. My bottom line is running FS9 and 737NG with reasonable frame rate. I know upgrading my pc will not harm but I don't want to do this yet. Any feedback will be very much appriciated.ThanksWayne Chan

I'm running a 1.4 Athlon, 512 PC2100 and a 64MB GeForce3 and the NG is certainly flyable in FS9 with the "No VC" model. If you upped your video card to something like a Radeon 9600XT you shouldn't have any problems...Ryan

I ONLY fly PMDG 737 now...on a Athlon Thinderbird 1.3Ghz....384mb ram and 64 mb Geforce 4 MX460 at 25 fps..online, wih acive sky etc. etc.Only a little slower then on my burned out old pc which was a P4 2.0 ghz with 512 mb ddr.I use the 2D panel only...never eally cared for VC and the sorts...probably with VC you might have difficulty...but they have done some performance improvements o it.Regards,Bjorn

I use a P4 1.4Gig, 512MB Ram, FX 5200 Video Card and get varied results mostly depending on which livery I use (believe it or not)! She is the most resource hungry plane I've got but can be flown very nicely providing I tweak a few settings.RegardsBoone,"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown in to the sea." i had a xp1500 512mb ram, 128mb ddr geforce3 video card. it ran fine but i can certainly tell you that you will have problems running in vc mode, cabin e.t.c. i upgraded myselft to a p4 2.8ghz, 1gb ram, 256mb gforcefx5200 card, new monitor, sound card, surround sound e.t.c.i suggest you upgradeyou may get some freezing while running the planeregardslylethats just my personal opinion

Thanks guys for your opinion and comments. I have confident to buy this fantastic aircraft now after reading your feedback.Have done some homework on the options for upgrading my pc too. I am sure I will be able to enjoy fyling the 737.Thanks again.Wayne Chan
