December 18, 200322 yr What determines if I use flap 30 or 40 for landing? If it is in the chart how do I read it, or is it just pilot choice? Usually I use 30 for landing because it seems easier to handle. Same goes for takeoff, I usually fly flap 5. What do I do?Brad
December 18, 200322 yr Most common takeoff flaps on the NG will be flaps 1 followed by 5 (Like at KSNA for noise abatement). For shorter runways/contaminated etc you will want to go flaps 5 and in extreme cases flaps 10 Flaps 30 pretty much is what I see, you can use others and must in certain cases but that is where SOPs or pilot judgment come into play ;) [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. December 18, 200322 yr You know me either until I was set straight by a very good real 737 NG Captain ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith
