Help with FS2002 Crashing!

Recommended Posts

I'm asking here because no else answers me on the other forums.I recently reinstalled 2002 and a few of the updates, such as UT. I was having some default scenery issues. Now when I try and fly the PMDG or even the 767PIC the sim crashes, giving the act.dll module as the reason. I have the traffic percent down to 10, since the airports I fly out of are so busy that even this setting results in non-stop ATC communications (can't get a word in edgewise, ect..).Does anyone here think that the UT is giving me the problem or that the traffic is still to high? What else could it be. UT's forums never reply to my post. Before my reinstall I had traffic higher than this.Any help is appreciated!ChrisKPHX

I have a P4 1.8 Northwood, 1 Gig of RDRAM, and a Geforce Ti4600 (128MB). My sound card is an SB Audigy 2, and my other stuff isn't anything that would cause problems. The thing is, before I reinstalled 2002 I was able to run UT at 20% with all the AFCADs and the common major airlines with GAs. My other add-ons were the PMDG, PSS Dash-8, PSS Airbus Pro, Dreamfleet 737, FSD Cheyenne and Commander, and the Reality XP Jetline2 and Garmin 530. Then I had a couple freewares as well. Not a lot of stuff. After the reinstall, I only put UT, PMDG, Reality XP and the FSD planes back on. Only difference is the payware 3.11 FSUIPC.Chris

Chris, The reason why I asked is I was was having the same problem with my P-4 1.8 . My answer to the problem was to upgrade to a stronger processor and mother board. It fixed my problem. I now have a P-4 3.2 and now it flys like a champ. Sorry that I dont have a better answer for you, but I now find that I can have my traffic at 65 percent and no backlog of traffic in the ATC. That was so annoying! So I feel your pain. I hope that you can find out what causes it. For me it was an excuse to the wife to let me upgrade. LOLBest of luck.

I wouldn't question it, however, I had more traffic before I reinstalled the sim? I have less add-ons and yet it's worse. I reduced the traffic to 5% and was able to fly a complete route with the new PMDG. It was great by the way! I did bump it up to 10 during CRZ, but it's still somewhat boring. Right now, I have no money, especially with Christmas. Maybe after the first of the year I can look at an upgrade.Take care,Chris
