PMDG ruined my plane downloading experience

Featured Replies

I agree 100% Before I got the PMDG737 I usually flew POSKY's nice 757 along with a panel from the library. But now I can't really enjoy flying these "incomplete" birds much anymore. I need the whole complete package with little/no fiddling to get it working right. I'm spoiled now. The only planes I ever fly are the PMDG737, B1900 and RealAir SF.260...all payware. Except for maybe some VFR aircraft I don't really see myself going back...payware is usually just such a higher level of quality functionality wise.

Yes, that's quite right. They should put a warning in the readme. LOL :-)George DorkofikisAthens, Greece

Well said. And it's also more realistic isn't it? Sticking to one airliner. I suppose if you're going to do justice to something as clever as the 737NG then you want to try and really get to know it, to be able to set it up and use it without conscious effort. I tried one of my payware Airbuses the other day and couldn't even remember how to start the thing. Shame.RegardsIan

I remember back in the days before we had PMDG when I used to browse the file listing at avsim.com and flightsim.com, looking for new planes to fly. Every once in a while you would find a plane that really stood out. My favorites were always the planes that had the greatest sophistication. It was like getting a new toy and now you had to figure out how to use it. (Without the manuals of course. We didn't read manuals back in those days.)Now, after many hours logged on the PMDG 737 I came to realize the sad fact that nothing stands up to the experience provided by this plane. I find myself browsing the latest files with mild interest as even the best of freeware planes, don't really stand up to the sophistication found in the 737. My FS2002 aircraft folder which contained hundreds of planes besides the defaults has been converted into my FS2004 folder which now contains only a handful. The PMDG 737, FLight 1 Piper Meridian, and the Dreamfeet Piper archer being among the few planes I fly these days. Thanks to PMDG for creating a great plane and for allowing me to spend more time with my wife cause I download a lot less. :)(oops. Almost forgot my name)Ryan Winterbourne

This is a very good point. I've noticed this feeling as well. To be honest though, I did plop the NG panel into the POSKY 757. Works ok, better than a freeware panel. The only other plane I fly anymore is the HJG DC-8. But that plane never had any of the wiz-bang stuff anyway so the "incomplete" feeling is less present. But in the end, nothing competes with the PMDG. Sort of amazing when you think about how much stuff is out there.__Josh

Lonny Payne's panel is good for the 757. True, it doesn't have ALL of the functionality of the NG, but it one of the best freeware along with the fanda...How about a PMDG DC-8? It seems like it would be easier to program since it has a steam panel, with nothing fancy... LOL
