February 28, 200422 yr Hi, When my flight reaches T/D the aircraft descends normally but it has to level out just before the 240kias restriction at 10000ft to slow down, and it has problems after that in keeping speed restriction so when I reach finals I am way to high and consequently cannot land. SNAV disconnects as it goes over speed limit. Is there any way to slow the aircraft down when above flaps speed? Or will I have to manually descend before the T/D so as to reach the assigned altitude and speed for finals?Does it also mean that the FMC is faulty in it's calculations?
February 28, 200422 yr I have the same problem. I use speedbrakes, but usually end up decending manually before the T/D. Kinda sucks. Hope someone has an answer!
February 29, 200422 yr I noticed that problem allso. What I do is insert my on speed in the FMC. You may see 240 then 180 and back up to 240 speeds for final, too high. In the scrach pad I enter 180/(the same altitude) right on top of the 280 (whatever altitude) and the FMC enters all new speeds at 180 until you get the MCP back when you lock onto the localizer. At that point you can, as you know, adjust your speed/decent to touchdown.FMC says 280/4000'Scrachpad enter: 180/4000'Use the LSK button for 280/4000'Bingo, all speeds chang to 180 from point on until you capture the LOC.Works for me!Regards
February 29, 200422 yr VNAV PATH DESCENTS do not maintain the FMC target speed (Above 10000). If you desire the aircraft to keep the speed simply sacrifce the PATH for a SPD DESCENT, like a path descent, you will sacrifce your descent path for speed ;). Of course you can also add some head wind into the FMC FORECASTS page and you will most likely have to put out the boards or even some throttle to stay close to the PATH or SPEED depending.....[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
