Hello erveybody! Now I know this is not quite related to PMDG, but as I know that there are many guys around here who know what they are talking about when its about computers. So I post that one here.I recently upgraded from an P4 2.4 & Radeon 9800SE to a P4 3.0 & Radeon 9800PRO (for complete specs see below)Nice, ha? But... the problem is, the performane of FS didn't improve with this upgrade.Example: Taxiing around Bill Melichars Honolulu in PMDG 737 (nonVC-model) gives me ~8 (!!!) fps. I already had that with my old specs.Of course I let FS create a new .cfg, and I followed most tweaking tips I found on vorious forums, including this one.The only thing I haven't done yet is a clean reinstall of windows. But could that really make that differenc? What would be the benefits of doing that? Please let me know your suggestions, I'm quite down about the facts I described above.Kind regards,Raffael SchmidtP4 3.0ATI Radeon 9800PROAsus P4P800 Deluxe1 GB Ram PC32002 HDDs totalling 170GB350 Watts Power supplyWin XP HomePS: Could the Power supply be too weak?

Hi Raffael, did you check that your new hardware was properly installed and recognised by your computer? For example, if you put in a 800MHz FSB CPU to replace your 533MHz one, the BIOS may not have updated correctly, and you may actually be running your new processor at only 2GHz. If you only upgraded your CPU and graphics card, a reinstall of Windows should not be necessary. However, if you upgraded you mobo as well, you may want to do a repair install of Windows, as well as install the correct chipset drivers. An inadequate power supply can be a problem, but that usually causes different symptoms than low fps, e.g. slow start-up times, freezes and crashes. If you decide to replace your supply, make sure you go for a reputable brand (such as Antec or Enermax), rather than just the power rating alone (those are usually wrong, anyway).Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg

Gosta pretty much nailed it. However when I upgraded to a 9800Pro I found the drivers that came with the card were better IMHO than those new 4.x catalist drivers. When I ugraded the whole machine I had to install new chipset drivers and upgraded to winXP from W2k.For FS9 remmember you need to have "MS Media Player 9" and you should download DX9 from wwwmicrosoft, com|downloads (left the dot out between www & microsoft, com). After setting up my new rig I tried to run FS9 with crummy results, I had forgoten about Media Player and DX9. Ran like a dog, til I put my head back on straight and got those files.Good LuckRegards
