PMDG Performance

Featured Replies

Hello All:I am seriously considering purchasing the 737NG package. I would appreciate an honest opinion from you guys/gals concerning the performance of it on a P4 2.0/768 RDRAM/GeForce 3 Ti500 64MB/Win XP. Thanks alot!John

I ran the PMDG 737-600,700NG on a Athlon 2600 sort of crippled, it was a 266Mhz ver, with 333Mhz memory, a mismatch in a way. I updated the VID card to a NVidia ti-4200 and had no problems at all. Any high end addon will use more recources. Having said that, with PMDG, the code is so well written you get a lot of bang for your dollar, and your hardware. Once you fly the PMDG aircraft MS fs9 planes seem really toylike. Trust me you will never go back!Highly recommended! No, I dont work for PMDG.Regards

Hi JohnI agree with Buck, once you have tasted this kit you will probably not want to operate anything else - and I actually prefer Airbus but PMDG don't make one (mores the pity). The PMDG737 is a sheer joy and the VC is - well, what I imagine it is like being there. It is the most immersive environment you will find in FS and it will fully absorb you.In terms of your setup, I operate FS9 and this 737NG on a notebook. I have a Sony Vaio Z1 Series 1.6Ghz Centrino with a humble Radeon Mobility card with 16MB memory (I think its a Radeon 7000). I have 1 gig of main memory, so its not a highly spec'd platform. With Clouds set to the minimum (ie no 3D) I can get 17 - 20FPS in the 2D and 15 - 18FPS in the VC (where I spend all of my time). This configuration does not have enough resource to operate Vatsim/Flight Project as that really brings things to a stop. Flying through 3D clouds also drops my framrates to around 8FPS so that isn't on for me.So you should be able to operate the 737NG at a reasonable enough framerate to enjoy the experience. But you may not want too many other processes operating in the background. There have been a number of posts in the main FS forum looking at performence and how to maximise it. So if your rates are not that high refer to those posts to help tune your platform.

Thanks for the replies!I think I will purchase this bird! I am looking forward to the TCAS and numerous other goodies coming in the future!!Thanks again,John

She is so kind on the frames! I get around 20 to 25FPS and no stutters at all! The PMDG 737 is by fare the best FS add-on I've ever owned! Worth every penny and more!My system!AMD Athlon XP2600+512 PC2700 DDR80Gb Maxtor HDGigabyte 7VT600Winfast 280A GF4Ti4200Windows XP

Well I have found it to be very hard on the performance of my system.2,3 Ghz Athlon Barton CPU1 Gig of RAM9800 PROWindows XP and FS 2004.I am experiencing very much a 100 % performance drop. I do run with Mytraffic 2004 however that really don

I had the same problem. Turn the MIP Map slider down till it's stable in my case it's at 4. If you need to go lower try it.I was getting lousy frames and the buildingd were spinning around like tops. Now I can run at 50 frames, city's, country dont matter. I'm using real WT 80% traffic, dont matter.Athlon64-3400+1 gig Corsair LLP TwinXRadion 9800 Pro.And the frames still stunk until I turned Mip Map down to 4.I dont care if you got a super computer, Mip Map too high kills it.Thats my experiance.Regards
