March 22, 200422 yr Hi AllNow I dont know whether I'm being a bit thick but here goes.I have been trying to follow the short tutorial for a dark and cold start. I can get the APU and other stuff all up and running but when I go the FMC I cant seem to load up the sid/stars in fact it looks as if I havent got the data in my FMC at all. I can get KDEN info in, and KLAX but when I try to follow the tutorial as regards waypoints everything just goes haywire.I may not have explained myself very well.I have since last week downloaded the most recent sid/stars data but that still doesnt seem to to have any effect on getting those waypoints into my FMC. Any help would be appreciated, although dont suggest that I try thr tutorial cos that is exactly what I'm doing. It's all becoming a bit of a pain, also I cant seem to select the 737 with winglets. Ta in anticpation of some help.Wycliffe
March 22, 200422 yr Hello Wycliffe..SID/STAR are yours at: Microsoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PMDGSIDSTARS ? Thats where they belong. you can find the SID/STAR file at the PMDG download page. The latest Navdata www.navdata.at : Microsoft GamesFlight Simulator 9FMCWPNavData ? =)Plz check that first.
March 23, 200422 yr Yep they are, I also downloaded last night the airac data? placed that in the right file. Actually I think the short tutorial thats available from the PMDG download site might be incorrect. When it says punch in ROCi3 it suggest that it should read ROCKI3.DVC but I cant find that line in the database that is presented even when I go to nxt page.I'm about to print off the long tutorial and see if I can get anywhere with that.I've flown the plane obviuosly straight off the runway but the purpose of buying this was to be able to really get into flight planning and using the FMC which at this point is really becoming a chore when I cant get the sids in. March 23, 200422 yr Are you sure that the navdata that you downloaded has the ROCi3 ?When you first load up the aircraft, open up the FMC and click on "FMC".That page will tell you what navdata the FMC is using. If all seems well on that page, set your position at KDEN.Goto the route page and set your destination to KLAX. Click DEP/ARR and select the active for departure, you should be shown a selection of SIDs on the left hand side with any possible transitions?Try taking a few screenshots-show us what you're doing.John (Once known as Macs)http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
March 23, 200422 yr I shall do some screen shots tonight, being in work at the moment is a bummer but it's work that pays for the essentials in life, NEw PC, Digi cam etc.hahahahaWycliffe
March 23, 200422 yr I agree with John, if you cannot input on the RTE page (you must push NEXT PG) for the VIA and TO lines, then just page through the DEP/ARR-DEP SIDS and load the SID from there and then continue inputting on the RTE page...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. March 23, 200422 yr Ok guys calm down now with all the technical jargon you really need to remember I am a total newbie with this product, although I have been simming for years this is the first time that I have decided to get stuck into the delights of something a little deeper. Thanks for the help from all of you but let me catch up. I'll spend my lunch break reading through the big tutorial and hopefully I'll catch up a little.Wycliffe
March 23, 200422 yr Ok looking at that answer of mine I noticed I missed the important issue you have, namely that one cannot add a SID directly into the ROUTE from the ROUTE page ;) you must always choose the SID from the DEPARTURE ARRIVIAL pages or CO ROUTE. Hope that clear this up for you [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpg Randy J Smith
