March 26, 200422 yr Hi thereI have been watching the screenshots of the new B738. Shouldn't the B736 and the B738 cockpits be the same? It seems like the new B738 panel has the things missing on the B736? Is that right? I think of TCAS, and the oppotunity to change the layout on the navdisplay?BrSteen
March 26, 200422 yr Both aircraft have TCAS, in fact pretty much all airliners have TCAS these days, RVSM airspace requires it.The cockpits are pretty identical in reality. But PMDG have released the 600/700 as a base package, the 800/900 version will add to the functionality(like TCAS II,more FMS features etc) aswell as letting us use the bigger 800 and 900 aircraft.John http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewer
March 26, 200422 yr That means, that I have to buy the B738 just to get the perfect panel for the B736 :D Because if I buy the B738 what should I then use my B736 panel for? When all the missing functionalities comes with the new B738 panel. Just hoping it will be possible to transfer the B738 panel to the B736. Why couldn't PMDG just make the new panel like the B736 - then I would't be in this situation [:D] Or update the B736 panel to match the B738. As long as they are equal.BrSteen
March 26, 200422 yr So.Are you saying that the new features, (rather pehaps features that now will work with the 800/900) will not be upgraded to the 600/700. I'm a new "owner" of the 600/700 version, and would really just like to have an upgrade for them. Or, will "another purchase" be required to have the current features that doesn't work well or at all for the 737 I bought a week or so ago. By the way, very nice aircraft guys. I have no regrets with my purchase of both the B1900 and the 737. These are the only aircraft that I have ever purchased, glad I did.Marv Thompson
March 26, 200422 yr Hey John,This doesn't have anything to do with the PMDG question posed by the original poster, but I did want to clarify a point regarding TCAS.While you are quite correct in stating that most airliners are TCAS equipped, TCAS is not required to operate in RVSM airspace. The only TCAS requirement associated with RVSM is this: If a TCAS II equipped airplane is to be flown in RVSM airspace, then the TCAS software must be version 7 or later.Best Regards,Nick LandolfiBlue Ridge Dx
March 26, 200422 yr Marv, you will need to purchase the 738/9 in order to have your 736/7 upgraded with the new gauges etc. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
