March 28, 200422 yr HiCan you some one help how can I get ATC to work properly IFR with your flight plan using FSNavigator SID/STAR. I export plan to fs9 and PMDG after I load fs9 flight plan and load to FMC PMDG same plane but the ATC send me to different way. Some time the SID its ok but the STAR it
March 28, 200422 yr The default ATC is lacking in many areas. You can plug in an actual route and it will work OK but when you near your destination, that is where things go sour. You will not be able to fly a STAR because ATC will start vectoring you early, even though you may have pluggen in the star waypoints inthe flightplan. Also, they will vector WAY too far out. I've had them vector me 50 miles out for an ILS. I don't know any way around it so I have not been using ATC which kinda sucks. I have Radar Contact but my new computer will not read the CD for some reason so I can't install it. Many people recommend VATSIM but I have never tried it. Eric
March 29, 200422 yr I fly VFR according to the ATC, but I am of course flying IFR...This will give me taxi in and out ATC, take off clearance and landing clearance...Then I am able to request flight following and then be guided from controller to controller just like on IFR...But if you run into weather problems, you can just land with out ATC using another rwy or even the same, but I file an IFR flight plan in the air where there normally is vectoring, and hit in my dep airport and arr airport and then choose IFR and route as GPS, then I simply create the route and point the route string to the nearest navstation either in front or behind me, then FS2004 asks you if you want to start at the dep airport, and I simply choose no, then you have vectoring for final in RVR conditions...Not perfect, I always want to fly the STAR and IAF according to the charts, but when the charts say vectoring and the weather says IFR I choose to file a flight...Boaz...
March 29, 200422 yr Hello David,If you would like to try out the "real" ATC alternative (online flying) you could have a look here:http://www.flightproject.netVery easy to setup, 100% FS 2004 compatible and you'll be online within a couple of minutes with the ability to communicate with "real" ATC using your own voice instead of the built-in ATC in FS.And then you always have VATSIM of course with more online traffic but a most of the times very tricky setup process - your call...Happy flying!
