Tip of the Day

This was something that I had remarked on some time back and it was just again brought to my attention in a newsletter from my AV, DCAirways.I thought I'd post it again as it is a really useful trick that belongs in a booklet, "Tips and Tricks for FS2002."I only wish that I could remember who taught me this trick so that I could give him the proper credit. Regardless, I see it so rarely brought up and it really is a useful panel adjustment. How often have you been on final approach or desperately searching for a difficult landmark only to grumble with frustration because the gauges, while using the mini-panel, are in your way?Well, grumble no more. Just move them to the top of your screen. I have rarely found while using the mini-panel that my attention is in the air above rather than the ground directly in front of me. This is an easy fix.1) Close Flight Simulator.2) Go into FS2002/Aircraft/Default/Panel and, using Notepad, open "panel.cfg."3) As there may be more than one entry, go to anyplace you see: position=7 and change 7 to 1 ... then save the file.4) Start Flight Simulator, get into a flight and go to your mini-panel screen. You should now find the instruments at the TOP of your screen; nice and convenient yet out of the way.Cheers!Heather "Bad Weather" Sherman
