April 29, 200422 yr Hi!When I had come back from a flight from Canberra YSCB to Sydney YSSY after several hours of the plane sitting at the gate with the APU going (oops!), I finally encountered the dredded radio panel problem! :(:( As a result, I postponed my flight, and collected as much data as possible for you.First things first, let's just say that the problem didn't exist until after final of my previous flight, because I switched NAV 1 over to the ILS freq when just turning. The plane was left at the gate under APU power for many (4?) hours and FS was left in the background whilst I looked at various avsim forums, chores etc. When I came back, I set up the MCP and turned Squawkbox and ActiveSky2004 back on, and when it came to tune the Radios, I noticed the problem - NAV and COM panels ONLY not working (ADF, transponder etc are fine). Hearing something about lighting on these forums, I tested the outside lighting, and the Landing lights, RWY turnoff lights and taxi lights all were not functioning. Another point was that this was at night.PANEL SHOThttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/73751.jpgOVERHEAD SHOThttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/73753.jpgRADIO PANELhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/73754.jpgI toggled the battery switch in the hope that that might solve the problem, to no avail. When I came across the Pneumatics panel, there was NO DUCT PRESSURE, and switching the bleed and pack switches didn't make any warnings / ramair inlet lights come on. The recirculation fans were working (audible). I restarted the APU, which made this panel come back alive. The EGT became lower than before I think. You see for yourself ;)As you can see in these shots, the Fuel Temperature reads 0 as does the cabin temperature.OTHER SHOTS:FMC SHOThttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/73755.jpgWas any of this useful?? :D Well, I tried. Let me know if you want me to try again. Maybe I'll start and finish a short flight, and monitoring it until it does occur - something tells me if it occurs on one, it occurs on all after a long flight / time being loaded. I encourage a PMDG member strongly to fly, then if it hasn't occured by then to let it sit there as I did :).NOTE: MY NEXT REPLY WILL CONTAIN A SCREENIE FROM WHEN I TURNED THE APU ON AND OFF, FOLLOWED BY WHEN THE ENGINES WERE ON. PROBABLY NOT THAT USEFUL :D ARRGH CAN ONLY FIT 1 MORE!Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesturday. April 29, 200422 yr Author http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/73758.jpg;) STILL Air temp & fuel temp is 0Details :) U gotta love em, even if they are useless. As a further note, please add your ideas or just post an 'i concur' message or something here so the PMDG developers at least get to see it (that is if you think any of it IS useful).Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesturday. April 29, 200422 yr GeoffreyVery useful! And I can see your problem as well...Look at your STANDBY POWER! It's down to 6VAs a work around, check the Extend Battery checkbox in FSUIPC, or start your engines and wait, your generators will start recharging the battery but it will take a while to get to 24V againHope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|

Perhaps the problems folks are having relate to a discrepancy between what the PMDG panel shows for generator status (on or off line) and what FS "thinks" the generator status actually is.
April 29, 200422 yr Hey,I've had the lack of duct pressure before along with the lack of cabin temp. Don't know if the radios worked (or lights) or not as this was before I'd seen all these posts about these problems. Cycling the APU had no effect. I could start the engines without trouble (even with no duct pressure). This was from a saved flight (never had any problems loading from saved). I've also got the registered version of FSUIPC and have the battery fix on (need it for other add-on's).Haven't had any problems apart from that time.CheersDavid
April 29, 200422 yr Author Thanks guys,However I don't have the full FSUIPC (I know, I am not helping Pete Dowson). If I am understanding this correctly, the standby battery is being used or running down because FS still uses it even when the engine gens or APU are in use.Would it be possible that someone with the knowledge / is in the know could create a document outlining the overhead battery test display 'thingie' and what voltages etc are normal for certain situations? I am constantly striving to get more realistic, and that along with manual air conditioning is what I miss out now.By the way, could anyone also email me or post their load configuration for the 800. I don't know how much I can load where and what is normal, so currently it is just default.Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesturday.
