May 4, 200422 yr Hi everybody! Two questions concerning the new B737-800/900 add-on1. Is the FMC-message sound really the same as in real life?? I thought this "ding-dong" is the flight-attendants call and the FMC-message sound would be a single chime only (like on the 777 or 744)!2. I expect to get the "END OF ROUTE" message at the end of my route, but it also comes up when I've landed (and there are still some wpts on my legs page for the missed-appr-procedure).From PS1.3 (I know, it's B744) I know that I'll get the message a) when there is no wpt to progress to (HDG-hold will be activated instead of LNAV).Is this really correctly modelled? Thanks for any replies,Stefan Bergert
May 4, 200422 yr 1] Most likely not but we are not in a real cockpit so when someone is flying in one of the other panels (not main) and does not have the CDU poped up and say is about to come to the TOD this is one way to help him know without having to change back and forth. At least this is what I am guessing ;-)2] Yes it comes up when you land, 744 has nothing whatever to do with this NG FMC. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 4, 200422 yr concerning the 2nd point, allright (though I think it could be quite annoying/irritating to hear the FMC-message sound everytime you have just landed)...concerning the 1st point... I don't understand the answer (or my question was not very well expained by myself)I mean the sound might be wrong. It should be a single chime instead of the two tones when an FMC-message pops up. That there is a sound to indicate there's a message waiting is like in real life, though.Any further ideas on this?Best regards,Stefan Bergert
May 4, 200422 yr No I think that there is not a *sound* at all on FMC alerting messages (real bird) only the FMA lights up and CDU message light. Pilots want to comment?? The END OF ROUTE is correct because you are a6t the end of your route. As for the sound, see point above.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 4, 200422 yr I know on the triple 7 it has a "ding" sound when receiving messages on the ACARS. But again, this is the 737NG.
May 5, 200422 yr The "ding" song was exactly the thing I was thinking of (the 747 has it as well, everytime a message, not just ACARS, comes up). What do you mean by "The FMA lights up"? Thanks already for your replies (but I hope a real pilot still can comment on this...) ,Stefan
