VNAV PRIOR TO FLAP RETRACTION - ANSWER

Featured Replies

I just got this confirmed by our 800 driver today so everyone listen up ;-) Selection of VNAV pior to flap retraction in TO mode will cause the speed bug to go straight to the airport restriction (i.e. 250 under 10000'). It will NOT keep the flap settings on the climb page whatsoever. And YES he did it on the real bird![h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hey Randy,Thanks for the clarification! Two questions...1. Does VNAV set the speedbug to the SPD/REST entry on LSK 3L of the CLB page? (e.g. 210/3000)2. Shouldn't the automatic entries on the SPD/REST of XXX/FLAPS be the minimum maneuver speed for the selected flap setting? Thanks!

It does not change anything in regards to the displayed FLAPSXXX but WILL keep a manual restriction (like 210/10000 etc) so all I am talking about is the flapsXXX speeds displayed. This is the reason why on a NG one does not go VNAV prior to flaps up because with an A/P engaged it WILL bust the flaps speeds. Might not be the case on the classics but here it is different. So it is proper to set a manual restriction on the CLB page if one plans on going VNAV prior to flaps retraction. Keep in mind that one would never do this where there are Noise Abatement regulations... [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
