May 15, 200422 yr VOZ Virtual Check Captain and real life Pacific Blue 737NG driver Brad Marsh this evening conducted his first online tutorial for PMDG pilots which lasted for at least 2.5 hours.Although I missed the start I joined in about an hour into the session where at least 4 people were guided through a number of procedures and operational aspects of the 737 and its systems including: crusing levels, descent profiles, adding fixes to the FMC, derating engines and assumed temperatures, cost index and more.On behalf of Pedro(spelling), Musashi, Geoffrey and myself I'd like to say thank you to Brad for his generosity in giving his time to help us all out.To be able to sit in front of your computer with the PMDG all setup and have a real life 737NG pilot talk you through a cold and dark start up, a descent and STAR or a VOR approach is something that I think depicts the positive approach taken by the flightsim community (and specifically the PMDG community) to helping each other out.I know that VOZ Virtual pilots will become very familiar with Brad's tutorials and I hope that everyone here gets the opportunity to join in one of the tutorials and learn something that at least for them will make their PMDG flying experience just that little bit better and more realistic.Skip

May 16, 200422 yr Hi All,Thanks for the kind words and support. The first informal chat worked pretty well but i am afraid Roger Wilco let us down somewhat with breaking comms etc. I have started a TeamSpeak2 server at 222.152.49.186 which is my IP. If anyone has a sec please try and connect to it and LMK how you get on as I may need to set up some port forwarding and so on and would like to have it all ironed out before we do another chat. Teamspeak2 is available at: http://www.teamspeak.org and I highly recommend it. There is a little info on it's use in the Training Department at http://www.raafsims.net in teh Voice Comms Intro area for those of you not familiar with it.The use of MSN text chat combined with voice worked well I think as I am able to see a question and then answer it at somewhat more length than just by return text. It may suit some ppl to save a copy of these chats if they are of any use.I will try and do another one in next few days. This one will be at a time to suit those in the Americas. How about Sunday night 16MAY local time for the US ppl? I will be online at 1400 hrs Monday the 17th May New Zealand time. This will be 1900 in Los Angeles on Sunday 16MAY and 2200hrs Sunday 16MAY in New York. Will this work?As a help try this URL:http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/My MSN is [email protected],
May 16, 200422 yr Wow! I would love to be a participant in one of these. I would really love the insight. Unfortunately I am stuck in N.H. until the 19th (no internet with my sim PC), but I will be available for the next few weeks so I will look for another announcement. I can do it at any time- Doesn't need to be US hours (I'm a night owl). If no one can do it by the 16th could you wait until a bit later? If not that's ok.
